So how come they don't say what causes parents to not be with their children, apart from divorces and gays and things? Such as "latch key kids" that started in the 1980s amongst other FINANCIAL concerns?

Nice of them to spout off all the symptoms... but why ignore the source? If they're trying to get the public to think, good luck. More than half don't.

for the MSM and for all status quo institutions. They never suggest that the system is broken, or that a law is bad, or that it might actually be the fault of THOSE IN CHARGE. No sir, it's always the fault of some abstract evil that must be purged from society, e.g. drug users and the tragedy that is the so-called 'War on Drugs', wherein millions of non-violent drug offenders have had their lives ruined by a system that purports to be 'helping' them.

Such is the current state of our civilization, IMO.

The one(s) that always makes me scream is (are) National Geographic or other nature programs that always sadly report the continuing disappearance of wild life and habitat, due to human encroachment. Aside from including brief meaningless happy noises about "we can save it", there is never EVER any mention of the root cause: overpopulation, and the critical need for widespread family planning initiatives.

The popular new game amongst the pundits and know-it-alls is to tell everyone where their personal failures lie, but not going into detail as to why the condition exists. They would then have to discuss the economic conditions that create the situation where both parents now have to be outside the home holding down a job (or two, or three) just to be able to support their kids. They can't do that, because then they'd have to discuss the policies of the clowns that they're sooooo damn busy hyping day in and day out.

If both parents are working, the remainder of their time is spent trying to 'keep up' with the chores and jobs in the home that are being neglected (for lack of a better word) while they're out trying to make enough money to feed, clothe, and otherwise generally support their families.

Something that rarely gets mentioned is the stress that living like this puts on people. A lot of the social conditions (abuse, alcohol consumption, etc.) that they decry daily are due to this. People are getting stretched to the max just to make it through the day, and the stress is having a horrible effect on our society.

But hey, as long as we're giving tax breaks to the upper 1.5%, it can't be all bad can it?

I have an eleven year old with ADHD, ODD and Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning autism). He's classified as special ed AND gifted and talented. I'm more involved than they would like me to be (yes, I often miss work for meetings to make sure that both of my kids are progressing happily down the road to pass the TAKS test. After all, that's all they care about these days.
