1. Most westerns are travesties

because they perpetuated the lie of "subduing the savages" and "manifest destiny" without explaining that it was merely the takeover of a continent and extinction of culture by people of European extraction.

That school of thought actually is very present in the east-German westerns.

The obvious mistakes in the landscape and ethnicity of the actors add a level of travesty not found in most "real" westerns.
