Best Line From a Movie
I bookmarked a thread from a few weeks ago. Here's the link:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=2081957

In my opinion, threads like this should never be locked, but I guess they all are after they drop far enough. Anyway, I'll start with a couple of different lines from a movie called "The Saddest Music in the World".

-----
The Grand Old Winnipeg banker is being planted today. I've got a hunch his widow just might go for a sad song tribute to his financial prowess.

-----
The singers are giving us a sad peak into child burial customs down Mexico way. The Mexican mother is being very firm with her infant.
Now go away, she wails. You are dead. Don't sneak in at night to nurse at my breast. That milk is only for the living. To Canadian ears, that may sound harsh. Well, I guess dead children, like any other kind, have got to learn.

-----
Narcissa (Maria de Medeiros): Excuse me, I've been admiring your ear for the past five minutes. I find it utterly beautiful. It is perfectly shaped. This one. The left one.

Old Man: Gasp

Narcissa: I wonder if I could whisper something into it. Just a little story you might like. Would you mind? I won't come too close.

Old Man: I'm deaf in that ear, but, uh, I can hear just fine in the other one.

Narcissa: Hmmm, no. This is the one I want. You can still feel my breath. Imagine what I'm telling you. (proceeds to tell story)

1. Quotes
"Time is the fire in which we burn." - Dr Sorin

"Time is a luxury you don't have." - Khan

"Do you expect me to talk?" "No, I expect you to die!" (Bond/Goldfinger - not the best movie, but that sure as hell is one of the best ever movie quotes!)

"Half of everything is luck. (the other half is) Fate." - Alec Trevelyan.

"Now put your clothes back on, and I'll buy you an ice cream." James Bond to an underage girl who had taken a fancy to him. (Maybe Woody Allen needed to watch a few more Bond flicks before gettin' jiggy with Soon-Yi...)

2. The Usual Suspects
One of my all-time favorite movies...

"The greatest trick The Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

"And like that...he's gone."

I might add more later. I'm still half asleep. :hangover:

20. One of my favorite exchanges from "The Ref"
Caroline: You're the one who suffocated him with limitations. Our son's a very sensative, creative...
Lloyd: Juvenile delinquent.
Caroline: ...boy. He has the kind of imagination...
Lloyd: That the mafia gives scholarships for.

21. And yet another Spacey film..."American Beauty"
Lester Burnham: Janie, today I quit my job. And then I told my boss to go fuck himself, and then I blackmailed him for almost sixty thousand dollars. Pass the asparagus.

It's all in the delivery. :)

29. From "Adaptation"
" . . . what's so wonderful is that every one of these flowers has a specific relationship with the insect that pollinates it. A certain orchid looks exactly like a certain insect so the insect is drawn to this flower that's double it's soul mate, and wants nothing more than to make love to it. And after, the insect flies off and spots another soul mate flower and makes love to it, thus pollinating it. And neither the flower nor the insect will ever understand the significance of their lovemaking. I mean, how could they know that because of their little dance, the world lives but it does - by simply doing what they're designed to do, something large and magnificent happens. In this sense, they show us how to live, how the only barometer you have is your heart. How, when you spot your flower, you can't let anything get in your way."

35. A few from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Dr. Gonzo: It's okay. He's just admiring the shape of your skull.

Raoul Duke: Let's get down to brass tacks. How much for the ape?

Dr. Gonzo: How much they pay you to screw that bear?

Voice on Drug Film: Know your dope fiend. You will not be able to see his eyes because of tea shades, but his knuckles will be white from inner tension and his pants will be crusted with semen from jacking off when he can't find a rape victim.

Raoul Duke: Ah, devil ether. It makes you behave like the village drunkard in some early Irish novel. Total loss of all basic motor function. Blurred vision, no balance, numb tongue. The mind recoils in horror, unable to communicate with the spinal column. Which is interesting because you can actually watch yourself behaving in this terrible way, but you can't control it.

Raoul Duke: Don't fuck with me now, man, I am Ahab.

Raoul Duke: Dogs fucked the Pope... no fault of mine.

Carnival Barker: Step right up! Shoot the pasties off a ten foot tall bull dyke and when a cotton candy goat!
