1. No, came down with the flu.
Thanks to Tommy Thompson's incompetence, I live in the one country suffering a flu vaccine shortage.

7. Much better in hindsight.
My wife and I weren't able to visit my side of the family this year. It turns out my mother came down with a nasty 24-hour stomach flu on Christmas eve, so it's better we stayed home.

He should be alright, but I've heard they may sit him out against Buffalo anyway, just to give him a rest, since next week's game is pretty much meaningless.

Edited on Mon Dec-27-04 04:00 PM by Droopy
I went over to my folks house and celebrated with my two sisters, their husbands, my little neice, grandma, and my parents. We celebrated on Sunday. The guys watched football all afternoon and then we a had a big dinner followed by exchanging gifts. It was pleasant.

17. thankya jeezus it's over
Christmas with out of town families is always such a logistical nightmare, plus two big families and many multiples of kiddos running around. Plus queer uncle sui has a reputation of eccentricity and generosity that must be upheld.

Oh, and having Mom pull out the latest effed up over-engineered christmas piano sheet music she could find for sui to bang out some tunes after seven or eight sniftas of 150 proof moonshine eggnog would have been stressful had I been sober enough to be nervous instead of trying to channel the Liberace christmas special while my peeps were warbling away behind me in their own eggnog induced haze.

But yes all's well that ends well - just 362 more days until christmas again.

30. It went pretty smoothly overall
The turkey kicked ass. I've got my recipe down to a fucking art! :D My buddies were basically falling over themselves saying how good all the food was. I'm thankful for that as I almost amputated two of my fingers cutting a squash. I'd hate to have my injury be all for naught.

33. Nothin' says lovin' like a roast chunk of dead animal!
If you want to learn how to cook, watch the food network and watch it often. Focus not so much on the exact recipes, but the techniques they use to prepare food and how the combine the ingredients. Do this for a few weeks, then start cooking yourself. So much of it is trial and error. If something goes wrong, figure out what is it and then fix it the next time you try. I've learned all I know from doing this, and I'm a madman in the kitchen! OH YEAH! :smoke:

I'll consider it, I gotta learn, I always let the girl who I partnered up with in home ec do the cooking! and she had to help me sew too.

HAHAHAHAHA! Sewing . . . LOL. Sorry about that. :D Just watch the food network religiously, and have you family agree to be your guinea pigs and that's a start. Help your parents out in the kitchen too, and watch what they do as they do it. Within a couple of months you'll be able to cook pretty well, assuming you're not like my little bro. I tried teaching him how to cook in preparation for me going off abroad, but I swear it's like trying to teach trigonometry to a cactus.

44. That's how my sil did it
And he's an absolutely fabulous cook. He made chocolate bread pudding for dessert, OH MY GOD!!! He watches alot of Emeril. I got him an Emeril cookbook a couple years ago, that's where the bread pudding recipe came from. The techniques are important, I actually watch Great Chefs for that part. Following recipes to the letter when you're first learning can produce great results too!

40. The perfect holiday gift to make you feel old . . .
I received the "Live Aid" dvd. I didn't see the concert in '85--had to work all day. I was drooling over my 80's crushes (Paul Young, Jim Kerr, Ben Orr), when I realized that they should be gorgeous! It was almost 20 years ago! Even I was gorgeous in 1985!

WHERE did the time go???

And he liked the hat I knitted.

Relatives mailed all kinds of fattening goodies.

Kids very appreciative of their rather modest haul, but they're great kids all the time, anyway.

But it's too damn cold!!!!!
