You obviously didn't get the message...we are an ownership society. "People who own things are better off"...Bush

If you all went out and overspent this holiday season, Wal Mart would be feeling pretty good right now. Do you feel bad? Do you feel guilty that you are responsible for failing the economy? Well, do you punk?

23. Aaaaahhh!...
you caught it--very observant of you. Love the Waitresses--love "Quit" which sadly is not on the greatest hits CD and especially "Pussy Strut" (hilarious little ditty).

7. BWA!
I just went to my local Target (my daughter got a gift card for there for Christmas) and I expected hell to pay with the crowds, but nope. Wasn't bad at all!

15. Credit cards reporting, not retailers.
This year my credit card buys are up at this time of the year. I donated to two groups that I thought were worthy, and I bought Mom an airplane ticket to be with her sisters (first time in many years they would be together.)

I never buy Xmas on credit card. I save through the year. But this year, I donated on-line and bought the ticket on-line.

So my credit sales are up.

I'll wait for the retailer report.

4. Have they released any numbers yet?
I was hearing 5% lower than last year, then 7%, then 10%. I think it was really higher than that (the percentage lower than last year).

6. I tried to sell a pint of blood...
to afford buying things for Christmas, but the guy on the street that I tried to sell it to just screamed and ran away. Perhaps I need to work on my sales pitch?

12. Economists refer to this as an "inferior good"
One where consumption goes up as income goes down - because it substitutes for something you'd rather have but can no longer afford.

Potatoes are an example.

Walmart is another.

The poorer we get, the more we spend at Walmart

20. Because when the Repubs are in control...the meme is this:
"The President doesn't control the economy."

Shuck and jive is the order of the day.

18. I sent donations to various animal organizations, just like most
years. I shopped at a local bookstore that sold Kerry gear during the election cycle, and I had some framing done by a local framer who is a friend of my son. Christmas was thereby great for me.
