12. My comute sucked
Of course there are these fools that still drive 60. This one asshole hit a big ass patch and started to lose it on the 101. Slowed his butt down REAL quick.

All and all most of the drivers slowed down.

14. This was me this morning:

The high desert is a dry flood plain. It doesn't take much rain to get all the dry creeks running and all the streets flooded. At about 9:00 this morning, I looked out and saw that my street was a river; the water level was almost to the undercarriage of my 4wd tacoma. I put on shorts and sweats and went out in my bare feet to wade to the driver's side door; I pulled my truck around back through the alley, and had to wade through the lake trapped back there to get the gate open and pull the truck to higher ground on the driveway.

By 10:30 this morning, there was no street left to be seen; the water had risen beyond my front gate and was encroaching into the front yard, and the lake in the back alley had expanded to include about 3 feet of the back yard.

I left the house at 12:30; I have enough clearance under the truck to get through mildly flooded streets; one of the reasons I drive it. The signals were all flashing red lights, many roads were closed, and there were cars stranded and abandoned all over the place. It quit raining for a couple of hours, and on my way home some of the flooding had drained away. It's raining again now, though. If it does this all night, the water levels will reach the house tonight.

I wish it would have done this NEXT week; they would have closed school, and I could have had another few days off. As it is, I had a bunch of time scheduled with my horse that won't be happening this week. :grr:

We need the rain, though. This is just a trace of what we've lost from the aquifer the last several years of drought.
