Chicago + New Year's Eve Any suggestions?

Still haven't decided what to do. What would you do?

I should, but I don't think I am. Yes, I am boring.

for many years we have gone to a friend's house. these people have been having a new year's party for 25+ years. so this year, they are calling it quits. we are all getting too old to be fun at that time of night.

so, my next choice is that my home away from home, goose island, is having a package deal. $65/head, all the food, drink and music you can absorb. i would like to go, it's just that i have used my "get out of the dog house after being very drunk and obnoxious" card already this holiday season. maybe if it is not too cold, i will go. then i can take the train, and stay out of trouble. hard to stay out of trouble at these things, tho. ttttoooooo much good beer.

They're always short-staffed on Christmas and New Year's Eve, so Mrs. IconCat and I put in a six-hour shift on both of those days. The only problem is that we may come back with more pets.

FIVE. freaking. cats.

Big Time Sarah is playing, and she ROCKS. OTOH, it's going to be warm enough that the fireworks at the pier look like fun. If I'm in town, that is. Things are still up in the air.

That's exactly what I was looking at and you can get into the other club down the block for the same cover charge.

What I was trying to figure out was an inexpensive hotel down town since we don't want to drive home and the last train is at 12:45. Any suggestions?

If they have rooms left. Cheap. Kinda crummy, but cheap.

I'm not going to pay $20+ cover charges just to shove and jostle my way through a very crowded bar for maybe just one drink. Not anymore.
