Now, obviously this guy has problems with his grammar, spelling, punctuation, and his employees. Wouldn't you like to work for him? Wouldn't you like to BE him? (After all, he's the big dog, the manager!)

See kids? An education is very important!

27. Not only was the original in all caps
It was also all bolded an in size 10 font. He didn't give them five or six things to ponder, he basically ran through every rule that exists. I want to know how many people have been fired. My husband was off for the last three days, but I'm going to ask him when he comes home tonight if anybody was missing.

7. Oh, yes, indeed. I'd love to work for him!
He sounds like a real peach.

Incidentally, and this has nothing to do with this particular business, can I just say the use of the phrase "team members" to refer to employees has always bugged me? I know, I know, it's supposed to foster a sense of camraderie and the spirit of "working together", but all it ever did for me was annoy the hell out of me.

10. Reminds me of this ignoraums of a fast-food manager I worked for in 1983.
Her lack of education showed in every aspect of her personality. And like the idiot who wrote your husband's memo, my boss couldn't spell (or otherwise use the English langague) worth a damn. One of her favorite written phrases was, "For now on."

This individual thought she was hot shit because she not only worked her way up to the head manager's job, but also because the chain had named her as "Manager of the Year" in 1981. She strutted around like her shit didn't stink, and she didn't think twice about going off on one of her underlings, and that included the other managers. She even got one of the managers fired because she thought he was being too nice to the employees! And she constantly came in on her days off to make sure that we peons were doing our jobs properly. Not surprisingly, the employee turnover in that place was very high.

Thanks for reminding me of why I don't miss working in fast food!

My husband is 35, and has worked at many pizza delivery places. He says he's never seen one that "functioned" like this one. If they don't get all of the pizza crust off the pan, they just put it back on the shelf. After this meeting, my husband starting checking pans that other people put up. He's pulled 3 and taken them to the manager, letting him know who put them up like that. That's just nasty!

something Dr. Phil once said. No, I'm not a fan, but I was watching a show he did on ADHD kids, only because I have one.

He told a story about a pet store in his home town that always had a guy in an animal suit standing outside to draw in customers. He told his kids to do well in school or they would be that guy.

35. This kind of nonsense is all the motivation I needed to finish college
I worked retail. The management was so inept it was sad. But the other employees were worse. A lot of them couldn't take inventory or do anything on paper. Most of them were only good for running the cash register - and that was clearly too challenging for some.

When I was 20, I knew I didn't want to have that job when I was 40. I worked my way up to a management position and the store tried to talk me into entering their store manager training program. But I just couldn't do it and stay sane.

I am a teacher and whenever people say anything about how patient I have to be with kids, I tell them that it was much more difficult for me to patient with adults when I worked retail.

48. The problem with a special program
is that most special ed kids do better (in other words, get higher test scores:) ) when they are mainstreamed. The more mainstreaming the better. At least that's what they tell us the research shows.

I can only speak of my program, but a lot of my kids need a more diverse peer group. In fact, my Aspie kid's mom wants her kid back in regular ed, she thinks his peers in special ed are a bad influence on him. She also thinks he will make better progress academically if he is challenged more, as he would be in regular ed.

50. Early intervention is the key
A lot of our special kids could thrive in a regular ed program after a couple years in self-contained special ed.

The key for most of my kids is being able to read. Most of them come to me as non-readers or just barely reading. My goal is to have them reading and writing when they leave me and go on to middle school.

51. You would be unpleasantly disturbed to know
how many executive chefs, - even the well-known and those with their own sketch on the Food Network, - cannot spell and comprehend grammar even this well.

It is not a requirement in the hospitality industry. You need to be able to cook, draft a menu and keep your food cost down. You don't need to be able to write, spell or compose complex sentences.

56. With 15 years in Quick Service Food bus, this guy is NORMAL.
And I was a manager and a district manager myself.
Food service managers are themselves treated like total crap. You work all kinds of very long, oddball hours...sometimes you don't even get 8 hours between shifts, and they ALWAYS put you in a store at least 45 minutes to 2 hours away from your home...even if you live next door to another location. 8 hours minus 2 hours travel is 6 hours to sleep, eat, and bathe. Upper management kicks your butt hard about you must do it THIS way. Then when they come in and see you doing precisely that, they yell at you and say WHY aren't you doing it THAT way? It is insane. The pay is not so good.
SO WHO WOULD TAKE A JOB LIKE THAT? Desperate people (without education or other prospects.) Their lives are made just purely PHYSICALLY miserable, non-stop, no wonder they are miserable people and managers themselves...no sleep, no food, WHAT IS A HOLIDAY? WHAT IS A WEEKEND? WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HUMAN BEING? You won't find out in this industry.
Of course no one cares (YALL JUST DONT CARE)...they are neither respected nor paid enough to care... just like their boss.
I was a manager and a District Manager for a highly unusual chain that actually respected its' employees...for three years... then in came an Asshole with a capital 'A' as Operations Manager. All the good people like me fled...all of them. The chain has gone seriously down hill ever since.
I did not have a 'degree', and was desperate for a job.
Thank God I am out of there now...got married and hoping to return to college.
As far as the spelling, grammer, etc... I've worked other businesses and found out THOSE managers suffer from the same... these people are college grads and STILL can't write a simple paragraph.... people in insurance, finance, leasing, and other industries.
Literacy is an American problem.

57. Literacy IS an American problem
The teachers are more worried about getting the kids through a standardized test, not whether or not they can write a complete sentence.

As for the hours, this guy is hardly ever there. He leaves the assistant managers in charge, and they really don't give a crap.

Yes, I realize that these people are not paid much, and that their education levels are low. Hence the title of my post...If you don't want to be this guy, do well in school!
