I had to buy a shreader just to keep up with Capital One...
I get so much crap from those people and thier Ilk that I am literally filling up a bin of shreaded paper once a week.....

Is this some kind of conspirosy between the makers of the paper shreaders and credit card companies?

Could this be Enron and Ollie North financing this giant scam to get us all to buy shreaders?

Or am I just a pissed off paranoid nutcase who needs to take off the tun foil hat and watch It's a Wonderful Life again, and again and again.......

1. Funny you should say that...
I just spent an hour shredding all of my mother's Capital One shite from the past year. I had a huge plastic bag full of the stuff before the end!

2. Send the reply card back in their postage-paid envelope.
Or better yet, I usually send back an offer from a different company. It really doesn't help with the volume of junk mail, but it makes ME feel better. "Eat that postage, fucko!"

3. Me Too!!
I got 12 of those thin plastic credit card crap things from them in less than a month. I didn't count how many came with out the cards.

4. I get crap from them all the time, too.
I get 3-4 credit card applications from them every week, plus I have a PO box as well as a mailbox at home (or, as I like to call it, a trash can on a stick), so I am getting the Capital One crapola dumped on me twice.

Is there any way to stop them from sending this junk out? Not only is it a massive waste of trees, every application is a potential theft of identity (although I may be mistaken on the ID theft).

9. Shred it
I shred mine or tear them up and put them in the same bag with the cat litter. I figure if someone wants to dig through that and tape it together they can have it.

5. This guy has the ultimate solution to people like the Capital One spammers
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 08:07 PM by Lady Effingbroke
if you have the time and patience to follow through with the plan!

~snip~

Here's a little secret that might piss off credit card companies and potentially get them to stop harassing you with upwards of 20 credit card applications per week. Some people have known this for years, and since a fair amount of people will read this I feel that it's my duty and obligation to share this secret with you, because based on the email I've received, I don't always get the sharpest tools in the shed reading my site (as opposed to the regular tools who read this site). For the slow: I'm saying that you're stupid and wouldn't come up with this idea on your own; pay attention.

There are two types of junk mail that everyone gets: coupons for stupid bullshit that you don't want, and credit card applications for credit to buy stupid bullshit that you don't need. Here's how to take care of all your junk mail in one fell swoop: use the postage-paid envelope that credit card companies send you with their applications to send them the OTHER junk mail you receive. It's just that simple. Imagine the frustration of credit card companies when they have to spend millions of dollars every year on first-class postage just to open up an envelope and find Pizza Hut coupons inside. The envelopes are intended to be used for "BUSINESS REPLY MAIL," and so use them for their intended purpose. You're sending them valuable money-saving coupons which could mean big savings to credit card companies, and it makes good business sense to use them. Consider it a reply to their business proposition with a business proposition of your own: 35 cents off a large, one-topping pizza. In fact, they should be thanking you for giving them these money-saving opportunities. Or how about sending them credit card applications from other credit card companies? Be creative.

13. I wonder if his technique works, I get so many of them a week I've ...
accidently tossed my CC bill a couple of times. The company laughed when I realized I didn't get the bill. I've tried keeping the cards and usually shred them, perhaps sending back those scraps might send a message. Funny thing is if they check I never carry a balence so they really don't make much from me.
