Bridge on the River Kwai on TCM tonight: shirtless William Holden
it's a great movie. It's about 3 hours long and starts at 10 PM EST.

I love William Holden-he was a fine looking man! :loveya:

7. My mother stood behind Holden in a grocery store line.
This was mid 60's. She went on and on about that incident. He was buying
beer.

I think of the I Love Lucy episode where she saw him at The Brown Derby.
When Ricky brought him home later, she donned that ridiculous fake nose disguise.

3. Speaking of fine-looking men
Last night I watched "The Devil's Own" with Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. Even though Brad's Irish accent was rather sappy, I truly enjoyed the two of them together. My significant other came in while I was watching and caught me fawning over the two of them and all goo-goo eyed Hahahahaha! Woooooo Hooooooooo! Brad and Harrison in one movie. I can't stand it!

4. My favorite movie of all time! My future husband took me to see it on
our first date in 1958------he's long gone but I still love the movie.

9. What a great movie!!!
So many great lines.

But whenever I think about William Holden I think if that classic "I Love Lucy" episode when she kisses him.
"I KISSED BILL HOLDEN!" she keeps screaming.
:D

10. That is one of the best movies ever made. William Holden
is OK, but, for my money, the rivalry between the 2 Colonels played by Alec Guiness and Seshu Hayakawa (sp?) IS the movie.
The dynamic between those two characters is one of the best on film. It's what elevates Bridge on the River Kwai from being just another "war" movie.

And, I agree with jdots--that song is like the hiccups--but an enjoyable kind.

15. It's great to exercise to.

But back to the movie. I though Alec Guiness was GREAT! How he becomes obsessed with building the bridge perfectly, in the British way, even though it was aiding the enemy--and how that dynamic tears Heayakawa apart. GREAT.

11. William Holden was fine, fine.
Even though he was a lush. Sunset Boulevard was a landmark of my youth.

14. Uh huh.
He outshined Bogart in that one, which is something in itself.

12. Yeah, it's one of my faves too.
But then again I love movies directed by David Lean.
