or not - I don't care - I'm so bored I think my head might explode.

Only 6 hours 'til my next flight.

1. Anything open so you can eat or shop?
I know airports just have such a bounty of entertainment choices:crazy:

5. There's a death burger outlet & a few vending machines...
thank god for overpriced wireless internet.

Just to try to get more sympathy - haven't been home for six weeks, won't be home for another six weeks & kissed my girlfriend goodbye this morning. Can you hear the violins yet?

2. What were you doing in Lisbon?
How's the airport, as they go?

Have you had coffee yet?

Who's the most interesting person you've seen go by?

Did you bring reading material?

6. I'm on my way from the Azores to Panama...
for work.

Not started on the coffee yet - been putting it off.

A rather strange, scruffy chap, who looked like he was eyeing up my laptop. Not that I'm paranoid. I'm sitting in a dark corner by the only power socket in the place.

Yes - the complete works of Saki.

Thanks

9. Speaking of earthquakes and tsunamis
Edited on Thu Dec-30-04 09:30 PM by brentspeak
Lisbon was hit by a terrible earthquake and resulting tsunami in 1755. Killed 90,000 people. Are there monuments in the city that commerate that event, or the Marquis of Pompal, the prime minister who basically prevented the whole situation from completely spiralling out of control?

Bizarre trivia from the Lisbon earthquake: The survivors of the quake fled to the relative safety of the docks, where they witnessed the sea receding (as it always does prior to a tsunami). It revealed centuries of sunken ships and treasure. But twenty minutes later, the tsunami hit.

19. Yes. There are monuments.
And it's interesting to see how the city was rebuilt. Incredibly efficiently at the time, though still more interesting than what we do today.

18. Spent the night their once myself.
After a last evening on the town... Of course, I was with my wife, and we had a great talk with a couple from Germany. Our Portuguese sucked, and it still does. Well, I can read it, but I can't speak it, though I tried and tried. And I still love Portugal! What a wonderful country.

especially if you are stuck in an airport for 2 hours? I wish I was stuck in an airport right now. At least I'd be going somewhere

I would like to go to Penn. to see the liberty Bell maybe this year if our jobs hold out, Maybe while we are there we could go to Hershey to see where they make the candy. They say that is fun. I'd take any trip right now as Long as they do have Tsunamis there

26. Oh we had the time.
Hubby lost his full time job after 9/11 due to the economy. His partime job and my full time job kept us going , barely, paid the bills but not the food.He has had hit and miss work until he got a great full time job after 2 years and he started that in August, but I'm afraid hell lose it since politics has changed. Now I am worried about BOTH of his jobs. They are both political jobs. I NEED A VACATION!!! REALLY BAD>
