...but I think there are many who find him quite charming, including far too many voters who voted for his personality rather his record, policies, or any number of issues.

I've heard several accounts of those who have met him, including Molly Ivins, and they all say he comes across as very nice and personable. For some, that's enough. They ignore the failure, the lack of real caring, and the constant missteps. They just want to vote for a guy who they want to share a beer with.
