Mine would be Karma Chameleon by Culture Club.

"Why don't you change the station?"

Really simple-because I'll get something like Angry American by Toby Keith (yes, it has happened) or Norwegian Folk Dance songs. Just about all radio stations in EC/Chippewa Falls is country. I wouldn't mind Willie, Waylon or the Dixie Chicks...but they don't play that at 4:30 in the a.m.

2. "The enemy is invading on the southern border."
Not a song, a news report. I thought we were at war with Mexico. I had never used a clock radio before. They were talking about Vietnam.

5. Katmandu by Bob Seeger.
I was hideously hungover at the time, and had evidently turned the volume up to full blast. That hurt!!!

6. 'Nashville Cats'
on a clock radio in a motel room in - where else? - Nashville! I thought it was set for buzzer-only, so I was surprised to hear the atonal lyrics of a song I already despise on many levels. Accompaniment by blaring buzzer did nothing toward improving the song, however.

To make matters worse, the tune morphed into a pestilent earworm that stayed with me throughout the day - even during the job interview that had brought me to Nashville in the first place. I didn't get the job, which is just as well, but my hatred for that song took on an added dimension that day. It's almost to the point that I may take a hostage if I hear that song again!

7. I once woke up to the words
"Psst. Hey you. Yeah, you."

I was half awake, and it took me a few moments to figure out that it was a commercial for insurance or something.

Freaked me out a little, though.

12. Where I live there are two music stations that I can get.
One is Mariah Scarey/Celine Dion crap. The other has the "Power Breakfast" when I wake up.

Nothing worse than Nickleback and the like to rouse you from blissful sleep, but I have no other choice for music!

13. I wake up to static
The clock radio is ancient and the dial doesn't work anymore. When we go to bed, we set the alarm and check the volume of the static. We could get a new one but in reality, the static is easier to take than most of the things everyone else here has mentioned.

15. "El Paso" by Marty Robbins, EVERY morning of my life until
I was a senior in high school. See it was my MOM's clock radio and the radio station always played "El Paso" right about the time I had to get up.

To this day I hate that song.
