Human Catapult Falls Short.........Dies
<snip>

LONDON (Reuters) - British police charged two men with manslaughter Tuesday following the death of an Oxford University student who was flung from a giant catapult.

Bulgarian Konstadin Yankov, 19, died last November when the stunt near the West Country town of Bridgewater went wrong.

"He had been thrown by a replica medieval catapult and failed to reach the landing net," said a police spokeswoman.

Yankov was on an outing with the Oxford Stunt Factory, an unofficial club at Oxford University where he was studying biochemistry. He had been the sixth person that day to be launched from the "trebuchet" catapult.

1. Damn
Some dude flung his wife with a trebuchet on "Stupid Behaviour: Caught on Tape" last night. She hit the net...and bounced off. No major injuries.

The largest trebuchet ever constructed was commissioned by King Edward I of England(known as Longshanks; the guy in Braveheart).

He had laid seige to Edinburgh, and got bored with starving them out, so he had his engineers design and build a gigantic trebuchet. The Scots in the city saw how big the thing was going to be and immediately surrendered.

King Edward I, being the ruthless bastard he was, ordered the people back into the city so he could lob some boulders at them anyway.
