1. I think the incubation period is longer than a few hours with the flu
If it's the flu, she got it before she went back to school.

If she got it at school today, then it's probably not the flu.

3. seems like that is always the way,
my youngest son,who is now a sophmore in college used to get a sinus infection every year in elementary school after school just got started back from summer break
