5. Sorry about your back
I blew out a disk once, wanted to die. You may just have a muscle spasm, but just as painful. Try ice, then heat.

Be careful with Motrin.....it can cause small bowel damage. Don't use it continually for very long.

7. My doctor prescribed them to me for severe menstrual pain
now that I'm um, er, um, "past that hurdle", I don't take them very often at all. At least not for the past year. But I still have a stockpile of Moltrin left :D

14. Motrin is the BOMB for menstrual pain
I'm old enough to remember when nothing worked. I used to sneak a few of my grandma's 1,000MG Motrin for my periods. I thought they were a miracle, and they are.

Just try to stop taking them in a few weeks. Bad news for the bowel. Husband fried his small bowel on Motrin. Has to survive on rice, potatoes and white meat now, or he's in the bathroom all day and half the night.

Now back to your back; Ice will limit the inflammation the first 24 hours, then heat to increase blood flow and healing.

Hope you feel better soon.

6. Yowch!
Make sure you ice it in the first 48 hrs. Then heat from there on out. Unfortunately, I am all too well versed in back strains.

Feel better soon!

11. The 800s are by prescription only and can be cheaper than using 200s
Especially if you have health insurance with a prescription drug benefit.

18. Do you mind if we compare?
500 tablets of 200mg ibuprofin is 12.99 at Rite Aid. That's 125 800mg doses which works out to a little over 10cents per 800mg dose.

How much does a similar amount cost under a drug plan?

Just curious.

19. my doctor wrote it up to coincide with my disability
so I don't have to pay for them.

At the Veteran's Hospital, any medication coinciding with treatment for disability is free, however, my normal co payment is 10 bucks.

15. Yes
4 - 200mg OTC Ibuprofen = 800mg Motrin. You can take 5 without a problem if you don't make a habit of it.
