The Dandy Warhols - Yes or No?.......................

The Dandy's are a guilty pleasure band for me. Normally I steer clear of media-darling bands, but I can't help but like these guys/gal.

Its unfortunate that "Bohemian Like You", with its Keith Richardsy main riff, has become the consummate movie/TV go-to song, but I have to admit it has hooks for days. And now that I have dug into their catalog a bit, my sweet-hook tooth has been whetted. Songs like the vaguely Lemonhead-ish "Boys Better", the uber-dark "Godless" and the silly-falsetto crooning of "We Used To Be Friends" show a range much wider than their alt-media one-hit pony status.

They also have a great website. Several pics and full videos (check out the videos - whats up with the hula-hoop guy?). Plus, the lead singer contributes his thoughts on some cinema classics.

I bought the album with the single and found the rest of it godAWFUL boring. Sounds they like were all just sitting around the studio stoned and bored.

abandoned gay men's gym when they recorded "Thirteen Tales," so I kinda have a special place in my heart for that album :7

The rest of their work never grabbed me.
