Where would you put yourself on the Kinsey scale?

I brought up Alfred C. Kinsey in another post.

Just curious: where would you put yourself on the Kinsey scale? 0 being exclusively heterosexual. 6 being exclusively homosexual.

I'm a 6, I think.

Hey, that didn't sound too good! Maybe there is a nefarious gay agenda?!

Actually, having grown up quite brainwashed in a fundy cult, I have to say that being so totally hetero, made it much easier for me to empathise with and believe that gay people, and even bi people, don't "choose" their sexual turn-ons. Unfortunately, most fundies don't make that connection :(

But then again, if you think about it, most fundies are bi. I think it's what makes progress in this world so dificult; they assume that since they bury the same-sex desires, it's the right thing to do, and can be done, if you just pray enough.

In the movie, Martin was a "3" and he had had sex with both men and women. But, I don't know if he was a three because he'd had sex with both or because he'd had equal amounts of sex with each.

If "0" is exclusively hetero, is "1" fantasies and "2" having petted but not having had sex? Does "1" mean that 1/4 of all sex partners have been the same sex, "2" mean that 1/3 of all partners have been the same sex and "3" mean that 1/2 of all partners have been the same sex?

will fall into the middle of the scale because normal is only defined by the extremes on each end. On the Bell Curve almost everyone will be strewn out between 2 - 4. The middle is the norm.

Criteria is generally fluid. It is pretty much up to the individual interpretation. Some folks regard intensity of desire as the determining factor, while others tend to rate the average sex of the partner. There hasn't been any real serious study to follow up on Kinsey's work, at least on the same scale as his original study.

Some people see sexuality as a continuum that people ride throughout their lives: a 4 at 17, then a 0 at 30, then a 6 at 60.
