We're expecting 5 cm. The horror. Someone, please come and rescue me from this pending natural disaster.

4. It's so funny though
It's the only thing they're covering on the morning news. They've got special news crews out covering the 'snow storm.' All the roads are backed up, cars are littering the roads.

And for gawd sakes people - stay off the hills and the bridges! (Try getting anywhere in the city - you won't be able to.)

12. Har har...
You should borrow a page from Mel Lastman and call in the army to handle snow clearing and rescue operations!

This is classic Vancouver stuff--2 cm and it's a storm! Haven't seen anything like this since there were two inches in Atlanta and the evening news showed some sorry sucker scraping his windshield with a kitchen spatula!

It's not snowing in Halifax today, BTW, but it's a co-old motha trucka...

3. I'm in Winnipeg, and you have my sympathies.
Or, I should say, you don't! I had to dig myself out of I-don't-know-how-many cms of snow three seperate times last week, and it's about minus a gazillion here now.

5. Wow!
That sounds just like Seattle-due to move south later on tonight. That will = wall to wall coverage tomorrow am, as if a large asteroid hit the Earth-if it's not melted.

The news peeps get so excited-they forget the goddamned name of it and start calling it 'The White Stuff.' Shit. They invented a WHOLE WORD FOR IT. It's 'SNOW.' Use it, TV stupids

Sorry. end of rant.

8. I find the panic highly amusing, myself
I must admit I don't like driving in it though - no snow tires and the other crazies on the road scare me.

Memo to other drivers: Don't stop when driving up a snowy hill, you're just going to slide backward and hit me.

16. I thought that Cannucks were used to it
Here in England at least once a year the entire south grinds to a halt over a similar amount of snow. 5cm (by which I assume you mean 2 inches) would really drive this part of the country into hiding.

We don't get much snow here - panic always ensues when it arrives. Guaranteed it will make the national news tonight - it will be the amusing little story at the end. 'Ha, ha, ha - it's snowing in Vancouver - look at these idiots - ha, ha, ha.'

It's Vancouverites in particular. We're not good with winter. It only visits us a few times a year, and we're never ready.

43. I didn't realize that there was a part of Canada that didn't get snow.
How cold does it get there? I know some folks who live in Victoria and they love it so much. I've always liked Canada and thought it would be a great place to live but it's too f'n cold and snowy for me. (I'm in Boston and vow to move every winter.) I'll have to start thinking about BC.

44. Vancouver / Victoria are pretty mild
We do get the occasional snowfall. Last year we didn't get one in Vancouver. It's generally above freezing here. I haven't used my warm winter coat yet. So, far my leather jacket(unlined) has been fine. I've only worn gloves a couple of time.

46. Summer is almost perfect here.
It is usually, 75 - 80 degrees here and hardly any humidity. This past summer we hardly had any rain.

We do get rain, but we kind of play it up to keep people out. Most of the rain comes in the winter. Rain instead of snow. It can be a bit dark here at times.

If Toronto had that climate, our tolerance would reach an end and we'd nuke the place off the map! And we don't even have nukes!

One thing I can say on behalf of New Brunswick (Province of Swine). They get much worse weather than Nova Scotia. And deserve it.
