Mostly because another DUer asked to see some of them last night :hi: .

Here's a couple more I posted already...

Here's the link for those of you who can't bring yourself to leave the Lounge...

2. Thanks!
Unfortunatly, I've only sold one painting in my life...

I'm not too farmilliar with the marketing aspects of art so, no such luck.

3. Damn good
I like them. I checked out the rest also. I have had a canvas, oils and brushes for a long time now and just can't get myself to start. I do a little charcoal and some pencil, but have yet to paint.
I used to be good when I was young, until I won "best in class" and then I quite. Go figure.

If i was half as good of a painter as certain photographers I knew I wouldn't be working in a supermarket right now.

But if it was a photo of someone or something I felt strongly about... I know how to improvise. I know how to us my imagination as well...

I've got to go answer another message...I'll be back y'all!

13. The first one on this page I believe is what you mean...
that was actually my first painting in three years, that I just did over the summer...after meeting a girl I thought I had something going with...

I actually painted it for my mother who had begged me for years to paint her a picture of the lilac bush in front of our house...

12. You need to find a gallery to showcase your work.
And, you need to start making money off your talent!

:D

14. God I sure hope so!
My area's small and somewhat rural, I'm kind of intimidated by the Big City, so right now I'm kind of stuck here...

22. I'm not an artist. But, I know of artists who sell "part time"
whilst working other full-time jobs! They don't even live in the same community where their art is sold.

Lots of artists live in rural areas-and, they ship to their "markets". Santa Fe, New Mexico is a good example of this.

I would suggest starting a thread in the Artists' forum to find out how to market your work in a nearby "art community" or larger city.

Good luck!

:hi:

24. I agree
It might be a bit of a drive, but I do know of one or two artist communities nearby...I just don't know anyone involved in these communities...

Tho I'm always looking to meet new people, as long as they're nice...:)

28. I couldn't get my schnoz out of those books...
:P

But seriously, it's funny you should mention my abstractions, since I always considered my figurative work to be "more abstract" in that I was concentrating more on the balance of shapes, lines, and colors... rather than trying to make it look like what it was supposed to be...

Thanks for your comments. :-)

--I also followed your link to your other posting.
I can only repeat what others have told you, you should be showing and selling your work.
It really is that good.

27. Thank you cruadin...
I don't think I've seen you around DU before so...:hi:

And yeah, Art is a tough field to break into. I've never had any problem being ambitious or creative, tho I sure could use some advise on how to "get known"...

I've also written a novel and several stories that I've tried sending out to various agents and publishers only to get a "We're not interested at this time" response...so i know how hard it is to try and get noticed...

Thanks for noticing me...:-)
