Any flute/piccolo players out there?
I haven't played in a few years, and I just bought a piccolo...any advice on good instructional books, music, playing techniques, random things, etc? Thanks.

1. Have you played before?

I think it's an easier embouchure than flute. Not a lot of literature specifically for picc since most players start out on flute.

on edit: duh, you said you haven't played in a few years.

3. The Rubank Method books.
They are the blue ones and have varying levels so as you get your chops back, you can progress to the next level by getting the next book. And they're cheap too!

4. I used to play years and years ago.
There are not many instructional books out there - I used to play flute music for practice. If you are in a band or can practice with one, so much the better. This is a difficult instrument to master unless you have a band or a wind ensemble to play with. I have some piccolo solo sheet music buried away somewhere (needs piano accompaniment for the most part) - if you want it let me know and I will mail you a copy. (Note to self - dust off flute and piccolo and begin playing again!)

6. I played 30 years ago in junior high and high school
Just reconditioned my flute so I can play duets with my middle schooler. I need books too. His band teacher gave me a beginning band book. It took a week or so, but I was amazed how fast the fingering came back!
