Have you ever seen a ghost?
I'll be upfront right here and say I don't really beleive in them - mainly since I've never seen them. Still, I will argue, enough people have seen them to where I think there is something that science can explain at a later date - but just not at this time.

But enough of my skepticism - this thread is not to debate whether ghosts exist or not - but have you seen them and what happened?

2. Yes
seen, heard, felt, at different times and in different places. Don't talk about it much because it opens myself up for attacks from skeptics.

3. LOL
Truth is I don't think anyone makes up seeing a ghost. I truly believe they are seeing something science may not be able to explain. To assume that our level of observation can explain everything is huberis.

However...I just have trouble buying the spirits returned from the dead thing.

6. Oh, I don't think they are returning
anyone who has seen a person's aura knows that these energy fields are around all the time. And people who are alive can, if needed, project their being to another place and time if someone intimately connected with them is in trouble. Had that happen as well. Also, there are unseen beings that have never been alive, ie guardian angels, nature spirits, etc.

9. My personal explanation points towards string theory
According to string theory, the universe is constantly splitting every time we have a choice. It breaks into different parallel universes based on the number of possible outcomes. Sometimes those universes overlap.

Also keep in mind time is merely our way of making linear sense out of a non-linear world, and one can become "unstuck in time" as Vonnegut would have described it.

13. Makes sense to me
I know that the former Pir of my order, Haz. Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, talked of string theory and other cutting edge science, which are compatible with mysticism.

4. Yes
my house is haunted, and I've seen her several times, as well as her cat. Usually, though, she makes herself known by moving or taking things- I can't keep cactus plants, for instance, because she knocks them over or even throws them across the room. Otherwise, she is a very peaceful housemate and hasn't given us any reason to worry or be afraid.

5. Seen as in actually *seen* her?
Did she look like you and I or was she transparent as others have described ghosts?

11. Yes, seen her.
I've seen her walking down the stairs, semi-transparent. I've also seen her shadow moving, when nobody else was home- that sort of thing. Her cat is actually more substantial and has appeared very firmly, and more frequently, so much so that my husband, who doesn't believe in anything remotely metaphysical, accused me of once getting another cat. As if!

7. I haven't seen any ghosts, but
my ex-husband and son have seen them.

I also have a friend who does see ghosts. One day a bunch of us were hanging out and she said to our friend Jill that there was a guy hanging around her with a bag of pennies. Jill didn't know what she was talking about. But then, a while later, Jill was showing us some old pictures she had found, and this other friend (who was fairly new to our group) grabbed one picture and said, "That's the guy!" It was Jill's ex-boyfriend who had committed suicide a few years earlier. That's when Jill remembered that she and that boyfriend had a running joke about bags of pennies.

I tell ya, it was a freaky exprience.

in Crusader Bunnypants ... that doesn't mean that such a thing actually exists.

Sorry, I know this was not to argue the point, but only to state if you HAD seen them, but I couldn't resist

10. I'm very skeptical because I sometimes hear voices - HUH?
What? Honestly, Doctor! I'm not crazy!

I became a new parent to twins about 4 1/2 months ago, and they sleep upstairs with the door closed (trust me, if they're crying, I don't need a baby monitor!)

ANYWAY, we have our ears 'tuned' to listen for them. After being on a 25 hour schedule, and sleep deprivation, I've noticed that every once in a while I HONESTLY THINK I hear one of them crying in the distance when it's really some background noise like the refrigerator going off. I SWEAR sometimes it sounds like one of them is crying!

When we check, however, they're both SOUND asleep.

The point is that I can see how someone can honestly hallucinate / mistake something like that, especially if they're looking "for" it, and the "expectant mind" "fills in the gaps".

I just have to think of what the most likely thing is.

If the choice is between a *psychological* phenomena which I myself (and my wife) has experenced, or that there's some kooky fourth dimension where people, along with their personalities and appearences go to (which would have no place in anything else we know about the universe), I think the former is more likely than the latter.

IMO, I think all of these "channellers" (aka "mediums") are either self-deluded or out-and-out frauds.

Now if said ghost were to properly give them the lotto number, this would be a different thing, but that *never* happens.

Aside from that, however, I DO acknowledge the *countless* recorded times when family members have inexplicably "sensed" when another family member was in danger or died, and that science hasn't explained those things to my satisfaction...

12. No-one can really answer that question, can they?
I've experienced anomalous events, but I can't prove they were supernatural - and neither can anyone else. It's an impossibility.
