Should I cut my hair?
I'm planning on participating in http://turnyourbackonbush.org on Jan 20, but I'm seriously worried that even if I don't wear any buttons or carry any signs, the fascist security will turn me away simply for my hair. So my question to DU is whether your folks think it's worth it to lose my 'do just so I can stand silently for a few hours? And can they really turn people away arbitrarily because they don't like somebody's looks? Or, i dunno, is it time to lose the ponytail anyway? Here's a photo of the offending locks (in the black jean jacket):

3. How about a half inch to inch above the shoulder? Are you the one with
the black hat in the foreground?

4. Naw, don't do it
First off, there are a lot of long haired neo-cons these days, and if they turned away you, they would have to turn away at least ten percent of the 'Pug chicken-hawks. Besides, if you're truly paranoid about it, where a snappy hat(possibly a fedora), and tuck it up under the hat.

I wouldn't cut it unless I truly wanted to. Too many other ways of disguising it not to.

6. fedora...that's interesting idea

i've never been (physically) comfortable tucking it into my coat. but yeah the hat could work. i've still got visions of security basically doing a strip search of people. i can't believe they turned people away in 2000/2001 for wearing buttons.

7. Back in the day, it was standard practice for a long hair
Trying to get into some place that was "straight". Fedoras look snappy, stylish in an old fashioned Depression era way. They probably won't even look at you twice.

9. Don't do it for that reason
If you are worried about it simply pull your hair back tight and tuck it in your shirt/coat out of sight.

12. Well, I cut my long hair because I was sick of people
stereo-typing me. It just allowes many people to put you in a box labelled "radical" and therefore to think that your opinions do not matter. It does grow back.

you have plenty of time when you're a geezer to have short hair....or no hair. ENJOY YOUR LONG HAIR WHILE YOU CAN! Don't let those fascists dictate how you f'ing look. Keep it clean and groomed always though! :D

15. For Bush no, for all of mankind, yes.
When men have long hair, that is what the focus is.

"Look at that guy with all the hair" as opposed to "look at that guy with the great blue eyes", for example.

Some women do like long hair on a man, though....tough choice.
