It's just coming on here in MST zone.

Boy, does it bring back memories. What a remarkable man, during a remarkable time.

3. Yes...
Extraordinary and well done--it covered the last five years of his life, which were terribly hard, exhausting, and often painful. This was one of the few documentaries that showed the personal toll his work took on him, even as he moved more deeply into the roots and branches of oppression in the US and the world.

He was truly trying to put it all together--the struggle against racism north and south, the growing opposition to the Vietnam war, everything that made his country fall short of its promise. Such a long, hard journey. He was terribly weary and lonely by the end.

One startling segment was of Sen. Robert Byrd attacking King for his opposition to the war. I guess he's come a ways since then as well; we all have. And more to come. I can scarcely imagine what Dr. King would think of what his country and the world have become since his death.

Bless you, Martin--so few like you ever appear, and the world's been a poorer place since you were freed from it.

:toast:

4. Unfortunately, I'm currently sans TV set.
However, several years ago, I read an excellent biography of Dr. King, "Let The Trumpet Sound" by Stephen B. Oates. Suffice it to say, King was an amazing human being!

5. I'm embarrassed to admit I was watching "24" from 7-8 and was so into it
that I kept watching for the second hour, even though I knew it was on..
It looked good, and I will catch it when they show it again. We really need a leader like him now.
