Should amputees be offended by prosthetics?
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 07:45 PM by kdsusa
I was browsing blogs today when I saw an entry on jeffandjanice.com regarding Google's policy of not allowing their ads to appear on websites for people with disabilities. Am I wrong, or is this really crappy?

Why should Google feel obligated to protect disabled people from information about disabilities?

Edit: I visited the site in question. It's not an informative site, but the question still applies.

I visited the site again, and it's being updated.

Gotta go. I've got to watch my DVDs so I can send them back to netflix

8. There are deaf people who are offended by cochlear implants...
so I would guess that it's possible.

Then again, the guy that I saw on the TV show was born deaf, so that might not be a perfect analogy. I think his reasoning was that his genetics caused him to be deaf and he was what he was - why mess with it? I remember that he was very much against his child (also born deaf) getting implants. The closest that I could relate to it was immigrant parents wanting their children to retain the culture of the "Old Country."

9. I've never understood that
I guess you'd have to be deaf to really understand it. It's like paraplegics not wanting to walk.

But who am to judge?

10. I thought the same.
I'll form a viable opinion once I'm faced with the situation - until then, I'm officially on the fence and listening to the people who are on both sides...
