Best Jim Carrey movie? I vote Eternal Sunshine ... wow!
Just watched it.
He went beyond anything he's ever done.
Terrific.

2. I *love* that movie and Michel Gondry...
it would take miles for me to say everything about that movie. I went in hoping to want it to be great because a) I love Michel Gondry's music videos, and b) I love me some Jim Carrey.

It really defied expectations, though. If I had to pick a second, I'd say one of the Ace Venturas. They're both awesome, just in different ways.

3. It's even better the second time
Afterward, download Beck's "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" (the closing theme song in the movie) and listen to it cranked with good headphones. Every time I hear that song I think of the movie and get all mushy inside.

It didn't do a damn thing for me, yet everyone else seems to love it. What did I miss?

16. that movie is hilarious, my favorite scene or the one that makes me howl
with laughter is when they get all dressed up in their top hat and tails and Jim Carry nails Jeff Daniels behind the kneecap with his walking stick.

17. That, and also the "We landed on the moon?" bit
I haven't seen any of his serious movies, but have seen both Venturas, D&D, Cable Guy (awful), and the Mask. D&D is my hands down favorite of them.

15. It is all about Charlie Kaufman, who is the brain behind this movie
Edited on Wed Jan-12-05 10:40 PM by kwassa
having written the screenplay to this movie and to "Adaptation" and "Being John Malkovich" and other very offbeat films like "Human Nature" and "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind".

Kaufman is the most original talent in Hollywood in many years. He often works with Spike Jonze.

I thought this was a truly great movie, very original in it's structure, and very deep in both its presentation and acting. Carrey was good, but this is not a Jim Carrey movie any more than it is a Kate Winslet movie.

I think this is easily the best film I have seen in several years. A classic-to-be. Great insight into the pain encountered in relationships, and why we stick with them.

21. Didn't see "Eternal Sunshine"; we'll have to check it out
However, we did see the "Ace Ventura" series and "Me, Myself and Irene". Hubby and I laughed so hard we ached.

Jim Carrey is one of my favorite comedians, along with Robin Williams. I've loved him ever since his "In Living Color" days when he'd do his "Fire Marshall Bill" skit.
