The ceremony was very different from a typical American wedding. I was also in a Catholic wedding and that wasn't much different from Protestant weddings, but the Greek Orthodox ceremony was very different.
It was long, with cantors singing, various ceremonies with rings, all kinds of interesting ceremonies.
The most unusual wedding I've attended was a Hindi wedding. It was all spoken in Sanskrit, started at dawn, and lasted all day. Guests were advised to arrive by 1:00 pm in order to witness the "auspicious moment." The only people who appeared to notice when the auspicious moment came and went were the handful of Anglos in attendance. Everybody else continued eating, talking, walking around, and generally doing what they had been doing for hours before and after.
That was a truly sensational wedding, followed by hours of more eating at a feast.
