Guys: Is every online interaction a possible dating situation?
The reason I ask is that I was arranging to tutor an online guy in a software package. But he keeps asking personal questions, and asks me to send him a pic, and if I want to go out for drinks. I'm 15 years older than him too! I may call this off completely.

Is there such a thing as a business relationship between a man and woman?

2. Every interaction with a female is a possible dating situation.
Online, offline, imaginary. . . it's all good.

22. I'm a consultant and all my clients are female...
Maybe there's a reason for that. The first possible male client, and he acts weird.

24. I'm Certainly Not Blind...
My dentist, accountant, and attorney are females....

Some of them are extremely attractive but I see them as professionals not future lovers...

It amuses me to watch some of the goings on, but in my case, everyone is just genderless little squiggles of excited photons on my moniter.

6. A/S/L???
;-)

Unfortunately, it's probably very common for men. (Although women are not immune either.) They'll idealize the person on the other end of the line and since it's easier to be more relaxed in cyberspace, probably try romantic overtures much more readily than in real life.

12. Shorthand for Age/Sex/Location
Kiddies throw it around a lot. I used to visit a gaming site which was 1/2 gaming and 1/2 flirting, but the flirting just got to be a meat market and detracted from the gaming.

19. Not at all.
I'll never meet most of them, I'm happily involved, so I don't think of them as potential dates. How can I even KNOW who is male, who is female. The net is androgenous.

On the other hand, how you doin', Glenda?

21. Seriously? Every interaction is a possible dating situation
Sounds like your guy needs to work on the "DON'T BE OBVIOUS" part, but yes, when a single man is actively looking for a partner, he pretty much looks at every woman he meets as a potential mate.

However, there's a fine line between being evaluating someone for compatability and attempting to initiate a relationship, and being sexist and harassing. It sounds like your online guy tripped over that line. If you've already indicated that you're not interested and he's continuing with his attempts to pick you up, you should let him know that you're offended by his harassing behavior.

23. I'm trying to treat it like a business relationship, and not blantently...
come out and specifically tell him to stop being an ass. But I'm going to have to be more blunt, I can see now. Also, he's from a culture which may act weirder toward women.

He's also sort of manipulative, and I may just drop him entirely.

I mean, it's hard because I normally act nice, but it's like nice to him equals "date me."

There's a lot of creepy dudes on the net.

Anonymity lets you say stuff you wouldn't say in front of a live person, and I think the most shy people in real life are probably the most obnoxious on the internet.

Except for Worst User Name Ever. He's just a mess.
