12. It's called football, not soccer :-(
Well, our ladies lost. At least now the idiot with the annoying voice that has commented their games won't bother me again.

Women's football is strange. Personally I lost all respect for it when, as a 16 year old (ie some years ago...) my team (comprised entirely of 16-year olds, and not even a particularly good one, at that) played Asker, the champions of Norwegian women's football.

We won 10-1...

13. Considering all the sports threads in the lounge
and the predictibility of confusion soccer is what it is (though i say football normally).

Women's football has changed a lot, perhaps its worth a second look?

14. well
THERE is a difference between the male and female body, if you guys had been women, but same training etc you would have lost im sure

18. Yes, of course there are physical differences!
By all means. I don't know if you're familiar with Hege Riise? She's been voted best female player in the world several times; she's played in the USA for...hm...Carolina? for the last two or three years. She used to train with my local team in the men's Premier League in Norway (Lillestrøm SK), and I do appreciate that the technical abilities are extremely high at the top level.

There's no doubt about that, but it's just not football as long as it's played at 20% of the tempo held in any division of male football.
But of course, I cheer for our ladies and wish them well!

5. One of the few
reasons I kept my cable.
Here they quashed cspan-2, but it will come back in Nov.
And the PBS channel is only halfway clear on cable, I couldn't do a 100 foot antenna for Bill Moyers.

16. how couldn't you.
I am totally smitten at the sight of a tall, beautiful athletic woman who can score goals with her forehead.
