1. Oh yeah.
You know what they say about FL;"Florida-come on vacation, leave on probation."

3. FL is the kind of craphole you get stuck in
once you move here.

Except for the blue counties (Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Leon, and Alachua) the whole place is a toilet.

7. Hey, don't forget us Central FLoridians.
I'm here in Seminole county, the north-center of the I-4 corridor. We voted RED, again, but we're getting more and more blue support each election. Hopefully we can be like our neighbors in Orange county and Volusia county and vote blue.

8. Volusia is blue?
Hmmm. Not sure if the influx of people from outside the area are making a difference in the red/blue balance.

I do know that my county is as red as can be, and it is a pretty bad place to live. We're trying to get out to, at least, a blue county, or out of FL altogether.

9. Yes
Volusia is blue. My home county. i'm so proud of them! I am hoping the next county over, Flagler, will be blue next go around. God knows I've been working my ass off to make it so. Don't know if it will happen, good ole boys and all but I'm sure trying!

10. Barring election fraud, I believe Florida is truly a blue state
There is no way Gore lost the election by 537 votes in 2000 when they stopped counting, and Kerry lost by much more than that in 2004.
Nobody who voted for Gore in 2000 suddenly decided to vote for Bush in 2004.
On the other hand, I know of a bunch of republicans who voted for Bush in 2000, but voted for Kerry in 2004.

20. Great Cuban restaurants
In many ways, I miss South Florida.

No way like the Old South, although it was sort of that way up until the 70s.

24. yea, Miami was a southern city up until 1980
Then it became the gateway to Latin America. Miami still has a lot of issues it needs to resolve but its headed in the right direction.

13. That is amazing.
I will then have to add Volusia to the "blue" column.

What do you think is the reason it went blue?

6. I remember this guy.
He's got issues and that's an understatement. He cracked up right before the superbowl a couple years ago.

19. Fl has great weather and natural beauty
but when it comes to living here as a working person, well, it leaves much to be desired.

My family came down to FL in the 1950s-60s to try to organize unions for the workers and they workers were terrified. This, of course, is not just in FL.

FL subsists on a "service industry" type of ecomomy-tourism is king.

One ad they were running here about 4-1/2 years ago was about how even Georgia paid it's public school teachers a higher salary!

Florida was loosing teachers to GA.

And of course, Jebbie Bush.

23. *Nothing* would surprise me at this point
in America in general and Florida in particular.

What I like about Miami was the way it was a city unto itself-more like the capital of a South American country.

And I must say, I miss South Beach.

:hi:

25. I agree.
All the most messed up news stories seem to originate from Florida. I'm glad we'll be moving away from here in a few months.
