Seeing the Clintons all smiling happily at the Defamation ...
I feel a bit betrayed ... I don't get it . How can they just stand there ( all the other Dems in Washington ) stand there and be cordial like this ? Maybe I am just bitter ...

25. Apparently, to some folks here, that would have been the only
acceptable option. :eyes:

As distasteful as this whole thing is, some people need to grasp the idea of living to fight another day. We will prevail, it's just taking longer than most of us would like! In the meantime, you do what you have to do to stay viable.

3. Diplomacy
And he's a former president - imagine how DU would get up in arms if a Democrat is getting inaugurated, and a former GOP president sat there looking all pissed off and such.

7. They can stand there because as members of the ruling
class they are more interested to see its continuation than in any change. Their loyalties lie not with common Americans but with those who pull the strings.

9. Eh
To me, you don't exactly have to SMILE and shit, but with Clinton it might just be an automatic reaction.

I wouldn't scowl, but I would just look as neutral as I could.

10. because they are part of it
If you think the Clinton's give a shit about anything other than being a part of the ruling class you are sadly mistaken. The same goes for most of the upper echelon of the formal Democratic party.

12. Because Dems Are Better
Look at how they tried to tear Clinton apart in the 1990's, look at how they talked (still talk) about Hillary.

But are they bitter? No. Because they are better people.

Dubya was at the opening of the Clinton library.

22. Oh Dems might be better but look at how Repugs have
control of all branches of the Federal Government.

Dukakis nice no longer wins elections.

The next time a pug comes after a Dem about the Dem's "patriotism" I hope the Dems fights back with all he has. Considering that a great number of A-list Hollywood celebs support the Dems, you would think they would be better at getting their message across to the American people.

and now it has degenerated into a corrupt wealthy ruling class.

31. Pssst.....here's a secret
It's always been that way. The Constitution was specifically written to preserve the wealth of the upper class against "the rabble" of the lower class.

Just look at the founding fathers: all were men of decent means and were products of The Enlightenment. They NEVER had to worry about where their next meal was coming from, or whether or not they had a place to live next week. Since they didn't have to toil away at a job for 100+ hours a week to stay alive, they had plenty of time to contemplate such things as liberty, justice, equality and other types of "book learning".

Regardless of what the Constitution says, the government has never been "of, by and for ALL the people." That's why we keep fighting for things like equal rights, equal protection under the law, and civil liberties.

15. When Madame Senator
was rocking her head from side-to-side during that windbag rendition of the tuneless "Let the Eagle Soar", I gathered she was joking.

They work with these trolls in Washington. Do you openly shit on the people you work with?

Of course not.

21. Hillary was pilloried
when she supposedly made a face during a State of the Union Address.

It went on and on and on AND on in the Right-Wing media.

So, in Washington, making a face apparently IS like shitting on someone. :-)

20. You're forgetting how hysterical the right was during his
tenure and re-election. So, really, their having survived 8 years with their (his) popularity still in tact gives them a lot to smile about. Think about it, they're stuck with his presence at these events until he dies....

27. Let it go, it's a waste of energy!
If you've listened to the republican callers on c-span they are tickled beyond reason over the sore loser dems and their favorite line is, "they need to get over it". Well, I've BEEN over it and wonder how long it'll take for them to wonder about their prize.
