Metal Bands that reinvented themselves in the 90's...

Inspired by my debate with Khepra about Tool. Admittedly they weren't a huge culprit music-wise even if I think they definitely chose to re-market themselves (I know this pic isn't of Tool but it is of Maynard and it makes me chuckle).


The biggest examples I can think of are Alice in Chains and Pantera. Both of these pictures amuse me especially when I hear my fellow punk/metal/hardcore people praise either band as being sincere or genuine.




No flames please, this post was just in good fun. I have plenty of old pics of myself that would be just as embarrassing.

Maynard was from Ludington, Michigan from what I've heard, which is kind of relatively near Grand Rapids. The set they're playing in in the middle picture looks like the GRTV studio - the public access station for Grand Rapids. Now what's funny is I (back when I lived there) and several other people have put bands in the studio and recorded them, and those /same huge paintings/ are in the back of like every one. It's like the generic artistic-looking set for GRTV!

The bands I've put in there are:

Macabre - feat. Mick Kyle and some singer named Josh but I can't remember his last name
Scarlet Would - feat. Spencer Blickley
Space Ghost - also feat. Mick Kyle

This was all back around 1991-1993. Just on the off chance that anyone knows what I'm talking about, let me know. :)
