Gee...that was fun.
So, it seems that, for a laugh, a friend of my soon to be ex-wife decided to phone my psychologist and tell him I called her and was suicidal.

Not being able to contact me directly, and being 60 miles away, he sent a "suicide response unit" to my home. That was a social worker, a registered nurse, and three cops in uniform.

So I've spent the past hour convincing them that I'm not suicidal... and they finally just fucked off (10:30pm).

How invasive is that? It's kind of scary, actually...if the social worker decided I was a danger to myself, I would have been arrested and taken to a psych lockdown for assessment.

Talk about freedom being a state of mind!

Needless to say, convincing someone you're not insane is pretty difficult when you're absolutely livid about such an invasion of privacy, and you've been working since 5:00am.

And what a great impression on my new neighbours, since I've only been living here a month.

1. That's not funny
What did you say to the person who thought it would be hilarious to send those people after you?

3. I haven't spoken with her in months...
...I found out where the info originated by calling my psychologist at home and asking him "WTF" this was all about...

4. Fuck that!
I say the person that made the false report should be next on the cops' to do list. Here in the states that is a crime.

5. I'm sure she would say...
...that she was genuinely concerned. It would be very difficult to prove otherwise, legally.

I just want to drop it, but I'm still pretty pissed-off.

Especially as it was a case of a phonecall which went like this: "this is so-and-so from the Mental Health unit...can we talk?"

"We are talking"

"I mean in person"

"no"

"well, we're right outside... either we can talk face to face now, or I can call the police to help us..."

Fuck me.

7. Hmmm..."kindred spirits", I suspect.
Said friend probably meant well. I'm sure wifey told her I was suicidal or something, and said friend, who fancies herself a pop-psych counsellor cum know-it-all decided to act.

10. I don't question that sanity is subjective,
but to send someone after you. That's extreme. I'm glad it all worked out for you.
