- - - - SNOW! - - - -
My county declared a state of emergency. I have a giant snow drift in front of my house. The snow is still coming down and is going to continue until around 8pm tonight. The strong winds have knocked my power out a few times. I'm afraid it's going to go out and stay out. How are you doing?

:scared:

6. South Shore, LI
Nassau Cty
It seems to have started blowing around here. We have, I guess, a little over a foot. It's a very heavy snow here, smushing the bushes down. I'm concerned about the power too, if the wind really starts picking up more.

How're you fixed for candles?

8. If I could see out my basement windows,
I'd tell you. Lol. The snow is so plastered against my windows, I'm not seeing much. I can look upwards out my windows and watch the wind really, really whipping the trees and snow around.

14. I don't know yet about state of emergency here in Orange County NY..
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 07:26 AM by Historic NY
but the wind and snow are whipping around. The plow guy came but my driveway is filling up with drifts. I can't even figure out how much is there yet, but it is up to the top of the first panel on my garage
doors.

Road has been plowed but that looks to have been some time ago.I think I will just go back to bed, no since getting cold to find out if my newspaper came.

17. The wind is starting to kick up here now, and I'd say maybe about
7" or so of snowfall so far. Less visibility than at any point that I noticed yesterday and last night.

I turned on the water earlier and the pressure was down. It's back up to normal now. :)

Meanwhile, here I am comfy and snug, electric blanket warming me, sipping lovely coffee and enjoying it all.

19. look on the bright side.
the snow is pretty powdery, so it's not so heavy.
then again, it keeps of blowing around so you have to shovel it more than once.

21. in coastal RI
no snow on my car, yet it's engulfed in 5' drifts. All but one of four doors to the house have enormous drifts abutting them.

Well over 2' has fallen here, and now it's coming down sideways. Yikes.

23. Central CT checking in. We have about 12 -15 inches
Hard to tell with the drifting. Blizzard warning is up to about 2:00 p.m. Our news people keep saying this is the worst storm ever -- I don't think so, 1888 was a bit worse as was 1978.
