15. look at it this way
The Niners are the only PERFECT Superbowl team. Aside from teams who made it to the big game only once. The Niners are the only team to have a 1.000 winning percentage in the Superbowl. No other team has that.

The Steelers are the next best team with a .800 PCT, also with 5 appearances.

The only teams with more than 5 appearances are the Cowboys and the Broncos. The Cowboys with 8 appearances and a .625 PCT and the Broncos with 6 and a miserable .333 PCT.

In fairness to the Broncos though 3 multi-show teams have it worse. The Bengals, Bills, and Vikings have never won the show in 2, 4, and 4 appearances respectively.

17. No Sense of History...Yet
I find it funny when Pats fans can't see past the past few years. Lets say the Patriots win 2 out of the next 3 superbows, winning 4 in a span of 6 years. Just like the Steelers in the 70's. Lets say like all teams the Patriots again acheive mediocrity in 10-20 years.

When your team is facing the new dynastic team, lets say for this argument, the Browns, who win a couple of superbowls and are starting their own dynasty, how will you react?

I guarantee that you'll make a comment about your precious Patriots having won 4 superbowls in 6 years. Then, and maybe only then, will Patriots fans get a sense of history and what it means. There is more than the present team.

That's something that fans of truly dynastic teams like the Steelers, 49ers, and Cowboys understand. Maybe the Patriots fans will be joining this elite cadre. Then, and only then, will her fans actually understand what it is to have a dynasty.

Till then you just don't get it.

21. horseshit. more teams, salary caps, the league is WAY different today
than it ever has been, and what the pats have done is way harder than what any of those teams had to do given the size of the league and the lack of constraints they faced...

27. bullshit for so many reasons.
Yes there are more teams, salary caps, and the league is different. So what the fuck does that have to do with my point? The Patriots fans have no sense of history. For them it's the whole 'what have you done for me lately' attitude because they HAVE nothing else.

As far as the argument that things are in some way 'harder' now...bullshit. It's always been hard, now it's harder in a different way. Do you think that the Steelers in the 70's just bought their way into 4 superbowls in 6 years? The last two superbowls guess how many players on their teams had been drafted and raised in their system? 100%. That's not something you can do today. That's an achievement in itself. They drafted smart, they played smart and they beat other elite teams at the time (the Cowboys, the Raiders) who also dominated the league.

To say that it's tougher now than then, maybe the en vogue thing to say, but it's bullshit. It was tough. It is tough.

Anyway you missed my point.

I am over the defeat because I know in baseball this year, I can watch the Yankees choke, and that dude is the best thing to me after an Orioles playoff berth, you guys have a right to be happy, football is such a hard sport nowadays to be a dynasty compared with baseball where you can spend buttloads of money. But next year, watch yer backs :P.

32. Thanks for proving my point.
See all I remmeber was the 'destiny' talk from 3 years ago. I can't hear that word anymore without it having a drunken Boston accent.

As far as any year here's how the dialoge generally went.

"Patriots are gonna roll the Steelers"
"I don't think so, Steelers will win."
"Naw. It's a Dynasty. Steelers might as well not show up."
"Steelers have a great Defense, they could hold them. They beat them earlier in the season."
"Without Corey Dillon! Patriots gonna roll."

Yeah. The Patriots fans weren't pompous. Maybe both sides were, as fans are wont to do. Point is that the Patriots fans afterwards are dicks about it.

BTW Boston Sports Radio (WEEI I think) said a week ago that Patriots fans should book their flights to Jacksonville. Is that not pompous?

33. Uh, yeah.
And all the bitter Steelers fans who suddenly have decided that all Patriots fans are assholes aren't sore losers. :eyes:

I respect Pittsburgh because of what they did this year--go 15-1 with a rookie under center, and go to the AFC Championship. I'm not a sore winner. I just like my team to win.

34. I can respect that
Pats played great all year (Miami who?) and deserve to be in the big game. I have nothing against the Patriots team.

Maybe you're not a sore winner, I'm upset they lost, but I'm not being a sore loser per se. I'm willing to have a good conversation about the merits of the game, how good Brady was, how they capitalized on the Steelers mistakes. I'm just saying that when the Patriots win a big game their fans gloat OVERMUCH. They push it in other people's faces. Not all do certainly.

I'm not saying Steelers fans are completely innocent of this type of activity either. I'm just saying that Boston fans are worse about it.

I say this KNOWING that I'll get at least 10 calls tommorow that start "Who's the best team in the NFL?"

Tell me you don't think that's being a sore winner.

but don't paint with such a broad brush. I remember the day after the election. I got a zillion calls from people saying "Quattro mas anos, bitch!" I had to disconnect my room phone to stop it. That is being a sore winner, and it's why I don't do it.

I just have friends all over this country in many football towns and it's only after a game where the Patriots beat the Steelers do I dread the next day. Yes I have plenty of friends in the Boston area who are great Pats fans, nice people, not sore winners. But they get overpowered by the stench of the ones who like to rub it in.
