1. Getting Older - Have Not Had A Date In 10 Years Now
The pickings are growing ever slimmer - that combined with living in an urban hell hole with limited opportunities for social contact make finding dates almost impossible.

4. Um, no I don't think so.
I ask my dog if he wants to "sit out" and that doesn't count either.

5. Yes, once: The Texan in Blue.
1964, Oklahoma City, The Riverboat.
A big sternwheeler on dry land with a Dixieland jazz band.
I was spending a debauched week end with some buddies from my pilot training class about an hour up the road at Vance AFB.

A waiter came to our table, looked back over his shoulder across the room, and pointed to the guy next to me. The waiter did a little shoulder shrug, head shake, and then pointed to me. Head nod.
He handed me a note.
Written in lipstick, on a bar napkin, it said:
"Will you marry me?
-The Texan in Blue"

I looked around the bar and spotted a very cute blonde in a blue dress.
She was at a table with three guys and two other women. She gave me a smile and a little wave.
I pointed to the note, then to her, and raised my eyebrows quizzically.
She nodded.
I pointed to the restroom area behind the bandstand.
She nodded again.

We met back there a few minutes later.
"How about it? Will you marry me?"
"I don't know. Are you rich?"
"Yes, my dad is a vice president at Standard Oil."
"OK, I'll marry you."

She said she'd get her date to take her back to the motel where she was staying as soon as she could. She was a student at TCU, up for the week end. Gave me the name and room number of her motel. I met her there about an hour later. We "dated" for about three months. She was dead serious about getting married, and I wasn't, so I finally broke up with her.

It was probably the most fantastic, insane, wild, "relationship" experience of my life.
Her name was Imodene Kunkle, I swear. She went by "Deenee".
I've always wondered what happened in her life.

6. Yes - several times.
And, believe me - my looks are distinctly mediocre.

7. When I was younger, never
My ex-wife was the first woman that really put the moves on me... after she filed for divorce, it seemed like it was open season on women asking me out.

8. Yes, and yes.
I don't have a count or anything, but probably the 2-5 range.

My wife-to-be asked me out, and of course I said yes!

9. Absolutely
If one woman in particular didn't ask me out, I wouldn't be married today.

10. I was so stupid...
I just looked at her like she was speaking a foreign language. I didn't realize what she was asking...

11. Once really
but several made it very clear that they would welcome an invitation from me.

Declined, they didn't quite fit into a gay man's desires...

12. depends on your definition of "out"
Once, in college, a girl asked me to a formal dance. I thought it was just because she needed an escort. I treated her very well, danced and catered to her, because I felt honored to be asked to stand in at the last minute. I never asked her out after that because I thought it was more of a helping out a friend thingie. Only after several months did a friend of hers let me know what a dunce I was for not pursuing it...by then she was dating someone else...d'oh!

Another time, I had found the girl I was eventually to marry, but she was a flight attendant and out of town for days at a stretch, but I loved to dance, so i would still go out to the dance clubs. I would be very honest and say "my girlfriend is out of town, but I love to dance, would you like to dance? I'm not interested in picking up anyone, just dancing". This usually worked out quite well, I'd get 3 or 4 dances, no pressure, and then move on to someone else, no hard feelings. One night, though, this woman kept hinting how attractive she felt men with beards were and trying to get me to go home with her. On the dance floor, she grabbed my thumb and started sucking provacatively on it! I tried to be as gentle as possible, and explain the situation, and when I moved on to another person she shot daggers at me...oh well.
