What Do You Think of CNN?
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 01:38 AM by nirvana3240
I wrote this, http://teenageenthusiast.blogspot.com read it and then,

What do you all think of CNN?

Some of you have said that it should just go to a straight liberal viewpoint. But I disagree....strongly. There is such a thing as journalistic integrity... (although I'm sure many of us will claim its a myth)

EDIT: Sorry, there are a lot of threads about CNN. Didnt see them, srry.

Examples?

And who are these "some" who say it should be straight liberal? You're not taking a page from foxnews, are you?

I just found out that Liz Taylor dumped Eddy Fisher bummer.
C.N.N. was iffy when Ted turner owned it. Fox news has the best hair and make up,that O'Rielly fellow seems like such a nice honest man.......

8. Do you work for CNN? Sounds like an 'inside' question.
But to answer, they should go back to their original dignified format that they had under Ted Turner. For many years CNN truly WAS a "respected name in news."

Especially since the Election, there is far to much OBVIOUS pandering to the Right. Most of CNN's anchors make no effort to hide their OBVIOUS bias. And now with the addition of "religious" programming, I find CNN (Christian Network News) downright scarey. I am NOT interested in seeing Jerry Falwell on MSM news. Nor am I interested in Larry King either covering religious subjects, or bringing the subject up himself. Nor am I interested in CNN's regular features on religious subjects (i.e., "The Two Mary's," "Who is the Real Jesus?", etc.)

Does that answer your question? Take it to your producer!

9. I get my news from the internet. When its running slow, I just read
the gunk on the bottom of my shoe. It rather resembles the ticker on most news channels these days: "Shit is happening now, it will continue to happen and it happened already. Get used to it, plebe!" Like that.

12. I think they are Fox
more or less.

I have less respect for them than Fox, because no one expects otherwise from Fox SINCE THey are so blatant.

CNN was terrible in the run up to the war, horribly biased during the elections, and is basically trying to pander to Fox's audience.

But Fox News viewers are very loyal and won't switch. And those on the left have pretty much given up on Cable news in general.

I have seen very few posts saying that CNN should become the "Fox of the Left". That's almost impossible, because the left is so fragmented.

Most people I've seen here want a station that tells the truth and gives voice to issues that get no coverage (people like KO because he gave coverage to voting irregularities). I doubt most prefer propaganda, but just some honesty.

13. The Conservative News Network, CNN has huge problems
CNN's problem is that in the 90s, they were fairly middle of the road and well respected.

However, once they started losing conservatives to Fox in the 2nd half of the 90s, the head honchos at CNN met with top Republicans around 2000 and wanted to know how to win conservatives back. The result was a sharp right turn by CNN in their news reporting, political shows, etc. This, in turn, led to the loss of liberals who went to the internet, the BBC and other sources. But, the problem was that conservatives still didn't trust "The Clinton News Network" and still stayed with Fox. So, CNN got hit with a double whammy - losing conservatives and liberals and were left with hardly any viewers.

15. Where the f*ck is the "Liberal Media" they rant about?
That's what I want to know. Nowadays, the "liberal media" is a myth. Mostly what I see in the mainstream TV media is Bushie butt-kissing.

I think that a network can be the liberal counterpoint of Faux, and still have journalistic integrity.

Anderson Cooper 360 is the only thing I can stand to watch on CNN. The rest of it BITES. I HATE Paul Zahn. Fortunately Olbermann is in the same time slot on MSNBC.
