I saw "Napoleon Dynamite," finally.
It was pretty slow-moving, but it's more fun to watch with repeated viewings.

And Napoleon reminds me of a friend I had in high school, who dressed exactly the same way Napoleon did (except without the moon boots) and also liked to draw pictures of unicorns.

1. Did you laugh so hard your eyes watered
when he ran the tupperware over? I did...maybe it was just me. My brother didn't seem to think it was that funny.

"Tina! Eat your food!"

2. What's really funny is he just takes off after that.
The original author of this thread is right, it does get funnier upon repeated viewings.

4. No, but I laughed myself *this close* to a coronary when Uncle Rico
showed Kip he still had an arm when Napolean came riding up on a bike.

"Wanna see me throw this football over that mountain?"

3. I chuckled a few times
but quickly determined it was overrated. The director was just trying to make a Wes Anderson knockoff film.. He failed miserably IMO. Everyone says that it had no plot.. Well, it did have a plot, and it sucked. I think the director has some talent, but he needs to learn how to write a screenplay before his next attempt.

5. The plot was as old as the hills, boy wants girl, boy can't get girl, boy
does something heoric/unselfish, boy gets girl. The difference here is this movie did it without "sexing up" the story or apologizing for the characters. IMO, it was fantastic!

7. Yes, but it still bothered me..
and it was girl wants boy first BTW. Which is the main problem I had with the plot.. Why did that girl even like Napoleon? and why did she give him art supplies? He was a jerk and a terrible artist. I expected the character's motives to be explained just a tiny bit. As viewed, I didn't care about Napoleon at all. I almost cared about the girl, but she was a really bad actor, so that kind of ruined it. Arghhh, that movie just pissed me off.

8. THAT'S where you missed "it". Just because the girl talked to him
at his own front door didn't mean SHE wanted HIM at that time. The story was about the boy, Napolean, regardless of the order of events depicted.

6. I didn't think it was funny, too close to home

Although my kids loved it.

I am just too sensative to others feelings, ask my family, so I felt sorry for him from the get-go.
And yes, we are living all of the lines "Tina you fat lard, come eat your dinner."

9. People tell me I would look exactly like him
if I grew my hair out and got a perm. I'll take their word for it. :)
