Where's your second home?
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 04:53 PM by HEyHEY
Mine would be Moncton New Brunswick, I spent an amazing summer there once and go back all the time to "reset" myself. Such a soothing place for me, I have good friends there, favourite hangouts, and I love all thee pretty french girls. What's your favourite second home?

4. Uptown New Orleans.
I live in St. Louis now, but I go home to New Orleans to rejuvenate my soul. I pack more good food and music into a long weekend in New Orleans than I get in months of living in St. Louis.

7. My other home is the TARDIS
Or the Liberator.

Or even the Enterprise, what the hell!

But if I had to be stuck on earth with this infantile greedy degenerate puke-ridden society, I'd say Walker, MN.

9. Just outside Friendship, Arkansas
Population 206, not counting hunting dogs. 30 acres and a vintage 1962 house left to me by my hard-working parents. It's where I want to be when the Bushalypse comes.

10. Miamisburg, Ohio
Actually, that's my first home but I'm away at school right now so it sort of feels like my second home. I didn't have to move away to go to school, I lived twenty miles from the campus. But I figured this way I would meet lots of new people and make new friends. I also thought living on campus would be more conducive to school work. Well both reasons are turning out to be fallacy. I have made one new friend, but not a bunch and it is not more conducive to doing school work. Oh, well. Another eight months I've got to do this and I'll take away a lesson learned.

My wife and i went to visit my parents in Sun City Center Fla last year. We went to Anna Maria Island 4 days while we were there. It is fantastic. Don't forget to eat lunch at the Olympic cafe on the way back. It is the best Greek food I have ever eaten in my life. And i am from chicago too. Gyros rule ! Don't forget about Souvlaki and baklava. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !

19. They have everything
The good Greek salads with the olives. Their cuccumber sauce for the gyros is out of this world. They cook the gyros on the actual spit. not the prepackaged Kronos shit they sell here in Tx.

17. Tokyo
I lived there for a while during graduate school, and whenever I go back (8 times so far, for up to three months at a time back when I was a college professor with summers off), I am reluctant to leave.

When I left Portland this past summer, I seriously considered moving to Japan, but the logistics, especially getting a residence visa as a non-wealthy self-employed person with no prospects of a Japanese spouse, were too daunting. And without a residence visa, one cannot open a bank account, rent an apartment, get a phone, do paying work that isn't controlled by the yakuza or sweatshop owners, or any of those other good things. :-(

22. Portland, Oregon
Most of my friends from college live there now, and as soon as I finish this pesky second degree, I'll be there (with actual, factual bells on).

Great bars, sweet music scene, lots of single, indie-rockin' lesbians... what's not to love about the place? ;-)

27. My second home would be Montana
- minus the right-wingers. I'm happy with my present abode, but I'd love to spend the summer months in a beautiful mountain valley in the Rockies. What could be better for the mind than the peace and solitude of nature?
