3. actually its 20, Sox won 5, 1901-1919
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 12:20 AM by JohnKleeb
I think. Hot damn tho, the yanks won their first world series in 1922, I think and that was 20 years after the first modern world series, so this means since the Yanks won their first series, tehy have won, one third of them, godddddddamn.

11. Sox never blew a 3-0 series lead.
No team EVER has done that! Except for the Yankees.

17. Like bu$h the Yanks played on the upper part of the unlevel field.
Had more money than any other team due to its market. Thats the bottom line, like it or not. The rest of MLB just ate cake.

18. jesus christ
Don't even go there.
You DO realize the Sox are number 2 in payroll?
BOTH teams are a part of the problem- it's not just the Yankees.

20. Yeah because the 80's were sooooo fruitfull for the Yankees
Sox have been the first or second highest payroll team in the 90's.

22. yup
which is why I have always said MONEY NEVER BUYS RINGS.
You can throw all the money in the world on free agents (which, IMO, ruined the sport) and not win. Which is what the Yankees are right now.
They traded all the young arms- Lilly, Vazquez, Weaver- to get older veterans.
It doesn't work that way.
The Yankees will never return to their form if they keep throwing money on guys like RJ...

10. my 14 year old son is a right handed control pitcher
who hits well for average. I would love to see him hit for more power, but he is a pitcher...and I would rather see him pitch well than hit for power!

14. ahh average is better
You're a twins fan, I assume you know who Ron Carew was, great singles hitter with little power but a fast baserunner and a great hitter. I couldn't hit for shit, and this one coach even benched me for half the game, I am sure you remember in little league that a kid will sit out at least one inning per game, well this asshole made me sit 3 innings, I quit the next spring.

16. I was lucky enough to actually watch Rod Carew play
at Metropolitan Stadium, back in the day. He was awesome, as was Tony Oliva, Harmon Killebrew and Jim Kaat. Love those old Twins players.

I was lucky enough to win a Tony Oliva autographed baseball a few years ago at a game. Too bad he, and Bert Blyleven are not in the HOF.

7. Inferiority complex
Red Sox fans (like Islander fans) have a complex. It's almost odd.

They win ONEring over the Yankees in 86 years and suddenly they think they're hot shit.
Sorry, that's not how it works.
