Why the ignited intercourse would China ban FIFA SOCCER 2005?
I can only think of one possible reason: they allow the player to select Taiwan as a team. But it's just my wild guess.

1. Does everything the Chinese govt do have to have a hidden motive?
Can't you just accept their explanation on this one?

3. Their explanation doesn't make sense. From the article:
"Among the 50 illegal games, 26 are pirated game software including Age of Mythology: the Titans, The Sims 2, Manhunt, FIFA 2005, Battlefield Vietnam and Painkiller: Battle out of Hell. The remaining are illegally distributed foreign games including Conflict Vietnam, Vietcong: Fist Alpha and Devastation."

:wtf: is that supposed to mean?

Bad command of the English language seems to be at play too.

4. it's confusing
After re-reading it, it sounds like they are banning illegal copies of the game? But, are they legal if you go through legit sources in China to buy the game?

2. I'm sure your guess is correct
I'm sure with a Hooters & Playboy club opening in China in recent months, they're not concerned about the players showing their legs in the game...

5. You know what would be a hoot?
1) Release sports game that has national teams. No Taiwan. Chinese are happy and game sells there.

2) Wait for high sales window to pass. Say, a few months.

3) Leak an "easter egg" (say, Ctrl-Alt-Shift-T-I-B-E-T) that enables the Taiwan team.
