Need some recommendations for quality, relatively inexpensive headphones
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 06:48 PM by St. Jarvitude
Specifically, I'm looking for something below $50 (preferably around $30) that produces a noticably higher quality of sound than the cheapo $8 headphones you can buy at Walgreens.

I would spring for a pair of really nice, noise-cancelling, whatever blah blah amazing headphones (somewhere in the $100 range), but I know that I'm probably just going to lose them in a week if I go above $50 :evilfrown:

Edit:

My highest two priorities are excellent bass reproduction and relatively light weight. I also don't want anything really bulky (airliner pilot style)

1. The Philips HP550, about $20 or so

Most every pair of headphones Philips makes are excellent, though.

2. I like the Phillips as well
I have the HC 170's.

Very affordable (about 20-25.)

They're also extremely comfortable (which is a big consideration for me because most headphones are irritating to wear)

4. Sennheiser HD202s are pretty decent.
And you can get them for about $20-30, depending on where you look. Good bass reproduction, fairly lightweight, comfortable.

And you should look at Koss, too. When it comes to low-end cans, Koss pretty much makes the best.

5. Yup--great headphones. The choice of (most) radio DJs.
They're what I used when I was on the air--fantastic sound to be so inexpensive.
