My dog just got sprayed by a skunk
God it smells. This hasn't happened in over two years. Off to the store to buy tomato paste and shampoo.

2. I think white vineagar rinse
and buy the skunk odor remover stuff from a pet store. It works great. I've seen other posts here with a homemade recipe for the store bought kind. Tomato paste doesn't work very well IMHO. Good luck.

3. Try this.
1/4 cup baking soda
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
Small squirt of dish soap

Mix just before use. Shampoo dog and use the above as a rinse. Allow to dry on dog. Repeat if necessary. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

4. this works about 10,000 times better than tomato juice
In fact, I would say, after 5 dog-skunk encounters, that tomato juice just does not work.

5. Thanks.
It is going to have to wait until tomorrow. I washed her with five cans of tomato sauce (which in the past has worked), but she must have received a full frontal assault from a particularly pungent skunk. It did nothing. My house reaks. She is sleeping in the garage tonight in her bed. I'll open the window so she can get fresh air.

9. The funny thing about when...
this happens is the reaction of the dog. My dog has been hit twice and both time he give me this look like, "What? Is there a problem?"

10. Yes
My dog was thinking I am sure..."WTF are you doing with the tomato sauce?"

I'm certainly going to try the recipe from above because the tomato thing has just failed me. Funny, though, it worked in the past, but not this time. The smell is making my nose run like a faucet.
