okay, should I take my lil doggie to Venice with me next week?

It's only $80 each way, she's the one who I spent a gazillion dollars on her little broken (now bionic) leg a couple months ago, and she gets REALLY depressed when I go away. And I get terribly sad when she's not with me. (She's my little Winky, the maltese, all of 6 lbs)

There are no quarantine laws anymore; just health certificates and proof of vaccinations, no big deal. Dogs are welcomed everywhere in France and Italy.

And I could buy a REALLY pretty carrier for her... She'd be in the cabin, in my lap or in her carrier under the seat.

yes? no? Alternatives are her staying with some friends who's doggies' she's only going to meet this weekend... which makes me nervous.

take her with you. I understand about missing pets. I never travel because I'd miss my cats terribly. I never enjoy being away from them.

And just think of all the new smells and exciting sights she will encounter. :)

and then there's another thing...all of the other dogs she'll meet over there speak Italian. What's the fun in that? Let alone the fact that all of their butts smell like garlic bread.

Okay, she might enjoy the music, but that bionic hip isn't going to help much when she slips into a canal. Hopefully that thing has the ability to transform into a propeller.

But I hear that Venice is a romantic city, a city of love. You never know, Winkey could find love at first sniff. You on the other hand will most likely just be the odd lady with the dog.

long car rides? Plane trips?

How does she do on the bathroom break?

Sounds to me like it'd be a gas to have her along!

I know that whenever the next critter comes to my life i hope to acclimate them to travel. My beloved old kitty hates it; i wish he'd been made to get used to it when he was younger.

Anyway, I think you can get adorable leather goods in Italy - a fine new collar or fancy carrier that she'd need to be with you to try on, right?

And I think her being with me would overcome the stress... maybe.
