Guys: should I switch to the Mach III razor?
I currently use Mach II. Gillette sent me a free handle for the Mach II when I reached puberty (eons ago), and I've had it ever since. Now, they've sent me a free handle for the Mach III.

Does the III really shave any better than the II? Does the presence of yet another razor blade in the cartridge really do anything whatsoever to improve the quality of the shave? They sent me a sample cartridge for the III, but my face is just as itchy after I shaved with it, and just as much stubble remains. Maybe we Italians just have thick facial hair.

Mach II cartridge: $20.95 for a pack of 10, or $2.10 each
Mach III cartridge: $22.95 for a pack of 8, or $2.87 each

It seems like more pesos for not much more improvement, but bear in mind I work from home, so I don't exactly shave on a daily basis. It wouldn't make much of a dent in my shaving budget if I switched.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

:freak: :freak: :freak:

21. Was looking for a bearded pic of him on the net
They're all shaven, though. :( But check him out, in the rare and unlikely event the Rangers make the playoffs. He usually grows it out when he smells the silver polish on Lord Stanley's Cup.

And yes, he looks just like an Ewok.

16. WOW..prices are outrageous..one shave per razor?
Why not get a straight razor, learn how to use it...a septic pencil too...and a leather strap to sharpen it....gee it costs more to shave than to smoke???

BE A MANLY MAN...use a straight razor!!!

19. Technically, you're allowed three shaves per razor
But after two, and the tungsten-wire-bristles that compose my facial hair really do a number on the edge.

I'd use a straight razor, but as they say in the mafia, an Italian with a straight razor uses it for one thing, and it ain't shaving. :o

18. Razor? What's that?
I dry-shave with a butter knife I sharpen on the brick foundation of my bathroom while using the crapper.

It's so much more manly that way....not to mention cheaper. It also brings back memories of when I worked in the prison system... ;-)

20. Heck, I could always use my Craftsman orbital sander
Put in a sheet of 150 grit corundum sandpaper and there won't be any razor stubble left, probably for a few weeks. But it doesn't impress the chicks much.

38. Real mean use 2 grit
That's gravel glued to a piece of fraying plastic canvas.

Yes, go Mach III - I bought one when they came out, and BY GOD THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. Thankfully, my beard is a weenie beard, so I can go well beyond the so-called useful life of the razors and still shave well. :-)

I also use Burt's Bees shaving soap - wonderful - and a half-assed shaving brush. Some year, I'll buy me a real badger bristle shaving brush.

What next, are they gonna try to sell us a hatchet to shave with?

Next, 6 blades are better than 4. then 8. blah.

From 'Life of Brian'

"And he shall wield a NINE bladed sword. Not two, not five, not seven, but NINE! NINE bladed sword."

Suppose they were talking about Gilette? :o

26. What? 3 shaves per razor???
So it's bad if I use the same Mach 3 razor for say, 4 months? I'm not joking either.

Oh well... You should definatly upgrade, it's a quality product, and isn't it just great how they send you free razors at puberty? Nice of them, I see their motive, but nice nonetheless.

31. Hey, if it works, keep using it
After three shaves, my razors get little nicks in them like a longsword after a good battle. If I use it a few times, it starts to pull the whiskers from my face instead of cutting them. Not a pleasant feeling, I tell you.

I always wondered why razors are made and marketed differently for men and for women. Both products seem to effectuate the same thing.

35. I'm a girl, but women's razors suck
They always have too much safety doohickeys and they are curved weird. I finally decided to try out the 3 blade razors, and I think it does do a better job. BUT, the Mach III is too expensive, so I use a store brand handle with the store brand 3-blades, and try to keep it dry to last longer. Works better for me, anyway.

Never had much fondness for Schick, though. Tried a couple of times, but they just don't cut right. Don't know how to explain it.

36. Someone gave me one of those
lady's Mach III's. It looks more or less just like the one for men except it is blue. I can use it to shave legs and underarms at least twice. When it stops shaving well, it doesn't really pull or hurt, it just stops shaving as well. It's the best razor I've ever used and is also pretty hard to cut yourself with.
