Drummer Ryan Vikedal of Grammy-nominated Nickelback leaves band

VANCOUVER (CP) - Nickelback is down a drummer after announcing longtime member Ryan Vikedal has left the band.

The departure of Vikedal, who's been with the band since its debut CD in 1996, was announced in a short statement issued by the group's record label EMI. "At this time, no replacement for Vikedal has been named and the band wishes Ryan all the best in his future endeavours," read the note.

Fronted by Chad Kroeger (news), Nickelback is currently working on new material in their homebase of Vancouver.


Nickelback formed in Hanna, Alta. They achieved international stardom with songs like How You Remind Me and Too Bad.

Good lord, no wonder I don't listen to the radio. Nickelback is in the top five of a Grammy category?

How can they still be up for a Grammy in 2005?

...about two years before they got famous. Their songs weren't exactly hard, but they were a lot more aggressive than the sappy drivel Nickelback puts out now. For instance, one was about doing shrooms (they devoted that one to the police at the event).

*for the record, Music Midtown sucks! It's this three day music festival in Atlanta, except that the music gets worse every year, and the drunk freepers get meaner every year.

They were every bad thing you could possibly imagine they would be - arrogant, shallow and total pricks. And their music is unlistenable.
