Best spyware blocker?
I've been running free versions of Spyware Blaster, Spybot, and Spyware Killer.
Some how the Blaster and Killer programs got corrupted and they don't work any more. I've uninstalled them.

What do you think is the best program out there now?
I'd like free (natch), but will pay.

Thanks.

spybot: search and destroy and Ad-Aware, they seem to find and take out everything, at least as far as i can tell.

and it's Free! It's the top download on Microsoft.com

It also keeps running like a virus scanner and stops spyware real time too.

5. They're asking for big trouble if folks try to edit their registry
MS should have made it easier than that to stop reports being sent.

I'll stick with my spybot and adaware.

14. Using Microsoft to stop spyware is like using Bush to stop terrorism
They talk big, but they benefit from the shit.

4. run more than one imo
Adaware and Spybot, with regular updates to the signatures. The proggies differ and one will sometimes miss something the other will pick up.

Try running online scans too at sites such as>>>

13. k
navigate through the program menu to update the spyware definitions (you should do this for the other programs too).

After you update the definitions with Spybot, click the "immunize" feature on the elft side of the screen. It should be self explanatory. Basically, it loads all of the spyware definitions on your computer and prevents it from being infected in the first place.

Rather than running the program every time to kill spyware, by keeping an updated immunization, you prevent spyware from being installed at all.

10. There are free ones.
Avast and AVg are two. Very, very good. Very, very free. Lightweight, do not bog your computer like Norton.

I dislike Norton greatly. G R E A T L Y. It slows your computer down.
