I think we just found out what a sham flu-shots are
this year, less people got the shots and this year has been a really low amount of flu, around here anyway, hardly any. Usually we have schools shut down because so many have the flu. Also, the one that everyone seemed to get last year lasted for weeks and weeks and was quite severe. So how come this year, when fewer got shots, there are fewer cases of flu?

Or am I missing something?

1. Every year that I don't get a flu shot, I get sick. I didn't get one
this year and I'm been sick for 2 weeks. I'm very susceptible to lung type stuff anyway. But I think they help me, but maybe it's just me.

2. Two things-1) that is exactly the worst outcome from this
that attitude. There has been a concentrated effort to get everyone to take the shots and this year might break that cycle and the effort would have to start all over again.

2)it is a hit or miss type of thing. Last year a different strain came in than was expected (guessed at) so even people who did get a shot got the flu. They might have just guessed right on this but I am not sure the flu season is really over yet.

3. Beware Pertussis!
It is under-diagnosed and raging through a lot of places. Those shots you got as a baby did NOT give you life-time immunity. While it is not as dangerous for teens and healthy adults as it is to babies, it is NOT a pleasant thing to go through. Can cause some real problems for some of us. It is very contagious.

google it if you are coughing, wheezing and really having trouble with air in air out. Learn about Pertussis and if you think that might be what ails you, insist your doctor test for it. Doctors are finally starting to recognize the resurgence of this ailment. Take it seriously, folks.

5. Going around the past several years. Only getting officially noticed
the past two. I know a young lady whose work generally starts with a large Y incision on people. She says the problem has been ignored too long.

Yeah, if the coughing makes you puke, pee, see stars or flashing lights, it might not be just flu. Not everyone gets the really noisy "whoop" sound associated with small children with the disease. If you sound a bit like air being let out of a balloon after a coughing spell, might wanna consider Pertussis as the culprit.

7. I know I was in bed for
3 weeks with it, the coughing was so hard it hurt and wouldn't stop and yes I barfed from coughing so hard...I knew it wasn't the flu and when I went to the clinic it was full of people with the same cough...Milwaukee, did come out and say the whooping cough was back, so it must have been close to epidemic for them to break down and issue a warning about it...
