25. Ms. Hoff... just frowned.
;-)

"Whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo whoo who who whoo"

Of course - hard to convey whistle tones in the written form... (The whistle like echoed the main song theme prior to chorus of walk like an egyptian)

24. Wow......
That blows Ozzy's "small animl issues" out of the fucking water. I'm stunned.

I can kind of accept it more from the Go-Go's though. They were about the only chick band that ever just flat-out partied like rock stars!

And Jane Wiedlin is HOT!

However I just won't ever look at them quite the same.

19. Oh with a shadow of doubt...
...I have to go with The Bangles!!! Not only did they have a unique sound, but they also happen to be the group who sings Sapphs and my song.

Let it be known though, that I did like The Go Go's, and have been a huge fan of Belinda Carlisle's for many years. Nevertheless, The Bangles were hot, hot, hot!!!!

33. Elevator music not required - their song is sufficiently BAD.
The lyrics are evidence - read and hurl...

Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darlin'
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Or am I only dreaming
Is this burnin' an eternal flame

I believe
It's meant to be, darlin'
I watch you when you are sleeping
You belong with me
Do you feel the same
Or am I only dreaming
Is this burnin' an eternal flame

Say my name
Sun shines trough the rain
Of all life so lonely
And come and ease the pain
I don't wanna lose this feeling

Ooh

Call my name, call my name, call my name, call my name, call my name

Say my name
Sun shines trough the rain
Of all life so lonely
And come and ease the pain
I don't wanna lose this feeling

Ooh woo ooh

Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darlin'
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame

Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darlin'
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Or am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame

Close your eyes
Give me your hand, darlin'
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Or am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame

I do recall a rather psychedelic video to "In My Room" (I think that was the name of the song).. does that balance it out any?

36. Probably as a coping mechanism, you've subconsciously blocked it out
of your memory. The music to this matches its sapiness - a super cheesy love ballad!

37. Definitely the Bangles!!
I went and saw the Bangles a few years ago at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and they were awesome!! Their harmonies live are incredible and Vicki Peterson is a great guitarist.

Plus, the Bangles are much cuter than the Go Gos (IMHO).

PS: I used to work with Belinda Carlisle's sister -- she is a hottie!

38. Bangles by far
For a few reasons...

1. All Over the Place is one of my favorite eighties albums. One of the few groups to pull off a sixties retro sound without being excessively cheesy. Their other albums are good, too, but this one's my favorite.

2. Their cover of "A Hazy Shade of Winter" actually betters the Simon and Garfunkel version, in my opinion, and S & G are one of my favorite groups of all time. They also do cool covers of the Merry-Go-Round's "Live" and The Grass Roots' "Where Were You When I Needed You."

3. One of the most beautifully mushy songs EVER: "Eternal Flame." Song still reminds me of my first crush from Kindergarten... :loveya:

4. Altogether more great singles ("Manic Monday", "If She Knew What She Wants", "Walk Like an Egyptian", "Walking Down Your Street", "Hazy Shade of Winter", "In Your Room", "Eternal Flame", etc.) than the Go-Gos had.

5. Susanna Hoffs, one of the all-time hottest women in rock.

Alright, I've said my peace. :-)

Deborah Iyall is a Native American and still a well-known artist in the Northwest.

This is a band who is a perfect example of why corporations ruin great music.

41. LARGE Props to the Go-Go's, but it's Bangles for me!
Both bands (not "groups," mind you, but bands; there's quite a difference) are extremely good musicians and singers. I LOVE watching Gina Schock muscle up her drum kit, Charlotte Caffey studied guitar with Andy Summers of the Police and Belinda Carlisle is just as sexy a singer as Susanna Hoffs,

But

The Bangles sing rings around the Beach Boys and/or the Mamas and the Papas, IMO, so that's a curvaceous leg up on the Go-Go's from the start. (Unfair advantage: Bangles have sibling harmonies from Vicki and Debi Peterson.) And, as a couple other posters have pointed out, The Bangles' "Hazy Shade of Winter" is better than the original!

For guitar, I think Vicki Peterson cuts Charlotte Caffey--and the rest of the band is Tuff Enuff to back her up, especially Michael Steele on bass and Debi on drums.

Both bands are WAY worthy, but I take Bangles home. Go figure.

45. I choose not to choose.
Bangles - September Gurls, If She Knew What She Wants, Walk Like An Egyptian, Manic Monday...

Go Gos - Vacation, We Got The Beat, Head Over Heels, Our Lips Are Sealed...

If forced to pick, I'd choose the Go Gos based on We Got The Beat.

46. Bangles.... hands down
Bangles.... hands down. Vickie (or Debbie?) Peterson-- the guitarist, not the drummer is *still* one of the most attractive ladies I've ever seen.

Listening to the Bangles is one of my guilty pleasures. I'll say it loudly and proudly

AND.... the Bangles are Deaniacs! Hit thebangles.com and check out the gallery. Don't know who looks happier to be there-- Susanna or Howard :)

I love the song, "Going Down to Liverpool". Kinda groovy in an 80's style...

So now you know what my closest friends don't... Bangles albums reside next to my Stan Kenton and Chick Corea collection.
