I want a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse with tilt wheel

What should I get?

I saw a great Microsoft one at a Best Buy, but they wanted $99 for it. I figured I cuold get it cheaper on Amazon, but Amazon doesn't have it.

So I'm thinking of the Logitech LX 700, which Amazon does have.

Any thoughts? Any helps?

They are great...I'd never go back to a wired anything now.

The mouse does eat batteries though, so be prepared. It's 'on' all the time.

Logitech is a reputable company. A lot of our office's computer peripherals are made by them. Apart from that, I don't have any advice I can offer.

I've been using these for 2 years now, work great, battery use for the mouse is quite minimal quite frankly. I think I change them once every 3/4 months at best. The keyboard I think I've change once since having it.

They have extended life for the batteries--supposedly up to 6 months. That alone would make me go that route, although some coworkers have the Logitech one and it seemed similar.

What I hate, though is those curved keyboards that are supposedly more ergonomic on some models. Some people love them. I absolutely detest them, so the one got is flat:

Preferably, get 2 sets. Leave one set in the charger while you use the others. It'll save you money in the long run, and avoid the annoyance of running to the store to get replacements when the ones in use run dry in the middle of some project.

I have one of their wireless keyboards, and I really like it. Unfortunately, I will be tied to a MS mouse for the foreseeable future as Logitech does not make a 5-button trackball mouse (at least not yet).

Once you get a wireless kboard, you'll never go back - but on to the reviews.

Kboard -Functionally fine, even though a bit bendy and cheap feeling, but that translates to it being nice and light. Comfy hand rest in front of first row of keys. There's a "F Lock" function, which defaults to reprogramming all your function keys to common windows tasks like New, Open, Save, Close, etc.

This function is completely fucking useless and annoying, as you can't disable it from starting, and have to turn off the function by pressing the "F Lock" key every time you want a program to run as intended. For example Thief 3, some of your items are mapped to function keys, but if I forget to disable the remapping and go for a flashbomb while running away from an angry pack of guards, I'm suddenly kicked out of the game and Windows is wanted to know what office doc I'd like to open :eyes:

Mouse, tilt wheel is equally useless, there's no thumb button (which I suspect the Logitech version may have) and the scrollwheel is so smooth you can find yourself pushing on it just hard enough to register a click which == button 3. Clicking it without registering a tilt can be a pain in the ass too.

Still, there ya have it, my grumpy review :D

( I still love the rig, but a different one would've probably been better in quality and functionality )

Nah, I'm pretty simple in my criteria-- keyboard can't be huge nor curved, (small hands here used to using very small laptops), keys must not be stiff or "clicky", and in the case of wireless, must not eat through batteries leaving me "stranded," and mouse must be reasonably responsive and comfortable to handle.

BTW, they do have a "multimedia version," that might be more conducive to THIEF 3! LOL

Better than the Logitech by far, IMHO.
